Obviously I love this flop. I made a fairly standard flop bet here but I think its the wrong amount. If I'm called its likely to mean that I am drawing to 9-12 outs (which is fine). If no one has an A or better then I am just taking it down here. I'm really not afraid of free/cheap cards. Check? Bet less? If so, how much?

I see no reason to check or bet less. Free cards aren't likely to be scary, so a check is fine, but I like building a pot with a hand like this so I would bet out near pot. This is how i would play the flop, personally.

It's an unraised pot. I don't think there is much room for fancy play here. I might check if there is someone at the table that I know to be aggressive, but it's your first hand. You could bet a little less to entice someone to call with a smaller PP or a K or so. But that is mostly speculation without knowing the opponents just a little bit.

I'd be tempted by a bit less. You really want XcYc to come for the ride and barring the fluked sets or two pair you're not behind much and even then you're not that far behind.

Flop: Bet like you did.
Turn: If you get called, bet $3.5 again.
River: Check/Call the river if you don't improve, if you hit your flush, choose from:
(a) bet 1/3 of the pot so that it looks like a blocking bet
(b) push
If you improve to 2 pair, overbet the pot on the river so that it looks like a missed draw that is desperate to take down the pot with a bluff now.
