i'm essentially a physicist, but i didn't vote for physics.

physics....I hate people

If you know everything that can be known about physics, it's most likely you'll understand most if not everything about human brain activity, including all the psychological patterns.

Supposing this isn't the case... Knowing everything about psychology may make life a little boring... While knowing everything about how the rest of the universe works will make it easier for your to adapt the enviroment to your needs.

Physics, by a long shot. I majored in psychology, and even the most basic things that psychology has proven again and again and again (like behavior being fundamentally lawful and deterministic, people prefering more goods to less, punishment as an ineffective behavioral correction medium) have been either ignored, or implemented in a negative, coercive fashion.

Making other people do what you want them to do is much better (+EV) than understanding quantum mechanics IMO.

oof.

For some reason I read the question to mean "would you rather science discover all there is to know about psychology/physics."

Still, I don't know. Having the infinite knowledge of what applied physics is capable of could be pretty cool /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm kind of betting on other people figuring that stuff out.

Personally, I would go psychology in terms of getting laid alone. Think of it!

Having troubles in that area? /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Always have, always will. Heh, I might go with physics otherwise.

I voted for the psychology: in physics we have a good basic understanding, and research is making steady progress already. Suddenly knowing all there is to know about psychology sounds like a much bigger leap forward, a bigger body of knowledge gained and more time saved assuming I manage to get it written down before I die.

If in physics there's something you don't understand, you can always hide behind the uncharted depths of nature. But if you can't understand yourself there is no one to hide behind. I prefer psychology.

Nah. Everything that's not understood in social sciences like psychology can easily be attributed to sampling errors /images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you know everything there is to know about human psychology, it is likely that you will be able to create artificial intelligence that you could then use to help you study physics.
