I had no particular read on the villan. He had only been around for a few minutes. Thanks for any thoughts on this hand.

This is a tough spot, villian hasn't really shown any aggression so far. On the flop bet more and don't check the turn bet clsoe to 3/4 being OOP sucks, I'd probley call the river and hope he didn't play a set weak.

yah i folded..i put him on a set becasue i thought AK would have prob been much more agressive..like throwing in a reraise somewhere in that hand

I'd probably bet closer to 2 on the flop, and lead the turn. As played, I think it's a fold with no particular read on the guy.

but what does a 2 dollar bet on the flop accomplish that a slightly smaller bet doesnt? Not trying to sound rude....its an honest question. There were no draws on the board...is it simply for fold equity? Do i want to start building a pot with one pair?

good fold in my opinion, the same 2 pair is likely but other than that its going to be a bluff or a set most of the time.

As a side not KQo isnt a great or good hand UTG+1 in a 9 handed game, your probably best to just let it go, most players I know that play 9 max either just call/or fold with it, raising usually just isolates stronger hands out of position, personaly I lean towards the fold as KQo doesnt play multi-way which a unraised pot tends to lead to.

Of course at the micro's the rules often change and you can raise for value UTG but even at $25 you need to have been at the table for a while to know this is the case.

A good rule of thumb to tell if offsuited big cards are playable oop is will you be willing to build a reasonable sized pot if you hit a good flop, if not you should probably drop it pre flop.

I think your line built a folding opportunity. That is, a fold on the river is probably correct, but c/cing the turn and leading the river smells like [censored].

Wow, I just read through this thread and almost cried. Fold this river?!?!?! This isn't a mouse we're talking about, it's an unknown at NL $25. Can anyone really put him on a range that would make this river fold correct? If we put him on a range of KQ, K7, K4, K2, 77, and 44, we're crushing his range 64-36 here. Throw in the possibility of a bluff, and we have a pretty easy call.

agreed, suprised at how many ppl find a fold here. I bet flop closer to $2, check the turn as we dont wanta build a pot with a marginal hand, but then hit top 2 pair on the river so we led but then what...fold to his push?? NOOOO, w/o a read I auto assume villian is the average 25NL player...a donk, But ok so he could have 44, 77, KK(of course even less likely) but thats too narrow a range to put an unknown on...so call his shove and ship the monies when he has lower 2 pair here alot or even TP, midpair, bluff etc. hes a UNKNOWN.
