I feel like I've paid the least I could pay for this showdown. Is it too pricey?

perfect, checking flop is good, but only if you follow up by calling the turn, and river bet is too small to fold.

On the flop I thought "my hand has good showdown value, let's avoid raising/betting and turning it into a bluff"

On the turn I thought "good chance that guy has a jack or is bluffing"

On the river, "that bet is small"

Bet the flop and shut down. You will usually lose less in the long run if your not beat most people will show you

thats the easiest way to play, but not the most +EV way to play. there is far more value in checking this flop and letting villain try to bluff you w/ smaller pairs on the turn

I like it a lot.
Betting the flop and then shutting down makes your hand quite obvious and you will be bet into by lags all the time and then you need to fold or make very borderline calls.

Edit: you are IP of course. So they will probably bet into you on the river so that problem is a little less important. You will experience though, that they immediately bet into you on the turn as a float or value bet or whatever. You never really know. It's nice to have kept the pot small then.

bet flop, fold if raised
bet turn, fold if he bets or raises
check behind river, fold if he bets

[/ QUOTE ]Yeah but this guy isn't a real LAG. He called that big raise PF so he's gotta have a good hand (probably with an A). I think if you want to check the flop (not bad in this spot) and plan to call this down then you should just raise the turn and fold the river instead. You have to figure that you are going to be up against a big bet on the river (as you were). My line costs you ~$5 instead of the ~$6 you spent. If his VPIP was more then I would want to show this down but VPIP of 21 isn't that loose.
