I can't really see what he calls a pot sized bet on the river with after playing it this way.

okay...should i just check? or bet half pot...but he hasnt much left...so i have to call anyway when he raises...hmm

Looks like villain missed his FD..If villain was more aggro I would check and give him the chance to bluff at it...Villain here is more on the passive calling station side so I would make about 1/2 PS value bet...
