I think this is a horrible spot for an overbet. Paired board and there is a flush out there too, and all you got is a straight. The call of the minraise is probably not the greatest call in the history of poker either.

8 dollars into a 1.75 pot in a pot with your straight is far from the nuts is bad. If you want to get value from the fish pick a better spot.

I dont like the overbet but what could he possibly have right here that he is slowplaying to the river in a 2 dollar pot?

I'm thinking pot control hear...there are lots of guys who play any two suited cards at these limits.
