need help with pot control

I think I'm not understanding the concept of pot control, and missing value in some cases, and allowing people to catch in others.

Here's an example:

My thought process: HE HAS A SET. MUBS I know, but when do I exercise pot control then if not on a dry flop like this? would the play be ok on 2 4 9r flop? How about if I held KJ?

I like a turn lead of about $7 and folding to any resistance. AJ/KJ/JT as well as any floats with PPs all play this the same.

I lead this turn too. Is a checkraise on the turn a bad idea? I kinda like it, but I guess if you're trying to exercise pot control, its a bad idea.

Potcontrol OOP is very difficult ... usually you blockbet instead, checkcalling is kind of meh

not sure why you checked turn, i'd be leading here all the time in this situation, if he calls i'll prolly be checking river here.
