So I'm still getting this [censored] kicked outa me in limit. Been over a month now, and I'm a loser over 8billion hands.

I moved down to 2/4 after dropping 300BB's at 5/10 6m, and I'm break even here after a whopping 5k hands.

Goodbye limit, Hello no limit.

Full table limit is so hard to make money at because someone will always outdraw you.

This is definitely true.

I may not stay at NL forever, but I need to do something fresh. I'm living off my poker income and I'm going to have a heart attack if I have another red month.

I've got savings for these sorts of things, but I really don't like going into them.

Hey JoshuaD, I may be a relative n00b in terms of post count, but I have been switching from limit to NL for a few months now. When I run bad or amd just losing in limit I cross over to NL 50 or NL 100 6 max. Its saved me from any kind of prolonged downswing every time. I think it helps my focus knowing I could dump my stack on any hand so I have to be more careful. Good luck, I suspect this will work well for you.

So it looks like you hit your first ever downswing (lucky [censored]) which coincides with when you stopped posting in SS etc.

I find a lot of people that play limit poker even up to 10/20 and 15/30--particularly shorthanded--just don't get it. In fact, I was railbirding the 100 game on PP today and it was a total joke--if I had the bankroll to justify taking a shot it would have been sooooooo worth it.

Appx. 40% of the players at 15/30 are very bad. But the remaining 60% are from ok to very, very good; so you need to know how to play (in excess of playing fish) to win.

EDIT: And if you do not have the bankroll, you probably aren't good enough, as it quick to aquire at lower limits for anyone good enough to win there. Not being a dick here, but beating it is tougher than it looks. OTOH, it is not rocket science and easy for anyone who is good at poker.

I miss old school SS, that forum was so fun.

Well said. Learning how to break even with the TAGs is the hardest part of playing 10/20.

I dont know if you are joking or otherwise, but another purpose of switching is you are no longer losing at 3/6 limit, you are winning (albeit a tiny amount) at NL 100. You can go back to 3/6 or whatever and play fresh, as money you didnt lose is money you wont have to win back. At least this is how I see it, but you could have been being silly and I gave you a serious reply, then ISSCKMS.

Jba,
I did a similar thing as i was escaping from a ~350 bb downswing at 3/6 6m. I played like 300 hands at .5/1 NL, ran at a stellar -58 bb/100 and decided to move back to SH limit. Since then, i've been on fire, including a 10k streak at ~8bb/100

You'd be surprised how many people would call flop pushes/ with gutshots.

today on the way home from work, I had the terrific idea to start an OIC to try to get out of my funk. I quickly dropped $20 without noticing, and wondered how the hell I dropped 20BBs so quickly. Then I realized I was at a 1/2 table. SWEET! I could start over with a clean slate! So I switched to .5/1 and played 205 hands (results: -11bb), and started contemplating how boring it was going to be to grind out 61 bets at .5/1 (about halfway through I cheated and fired up a second table) and decided to quit.

on a high note, I managed to win another ticket to the PPM semis this weekend and that put me in a good mood. and I got some dinner.

so back to grinding for me. I can almost feel the upswing coming.
