Several Southern California floormen have told me there are legal reasons their casinos can't offer straddles or full kill games.

I've searched but can't find anything. Anyone know if there is a legal restriction on these practices?

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's department and Sheriff Lee Baca has made the card clubs jump thru hoops. One example was they use to collect the drop as a live bet from the button. But they ruled the added blind could not be live. I belive their was a lot written about this on rec.gambling.poker a few years ago. I'm not sure about kill games as they have them at Hollywood park (o8 1/2 kill) and I think both the Bike and Hustler. I think on the kill games they are peeing on your leg.

The Bike allows straddles in its top games and NL games. I am finding most places including LV casinos dont allow straddles as the rocks who occupy the seats during the day, do not like it and they cater to the regulars.

I know they play "overs" at Oceans 11 in their 20-40 game, and perhaps they have kill games also. But my question here is regarding So Cal limit hold 'em games, 15-30 and higher. Why no straddle or full kill? I can't help but not believe the floormen when they tell me it is because legally they can't do it. I'm suspicious they just don't WANT to allow straddles or kills in their higher limit games, for whatever reason. If that is the case, fine. I'm just curious if there is in fact a law against these things at certain limits or something.

Meanwhile, the Indian casinos like like kills and straddles on everything they spread.

Ocean's 11 isn't an indian casino.

I seriously doubt there is any reason for them to not be able to offer these games.

Years ago lowball was the big game. The collection was tied to the size of the game, and the city (e.g., Gardena, Bell Gardens, Commerce) wanted to maximize collections, because they got a big piece (at one time the Bike paid over 50% of the Bell Gardens budget).

In lowball blind live raises were one way to make a game play bigger while keeping a lower collection. I presume this was needed to keep top section competitive at that time. During this period the city or county authorities would balk when forced extra blind raises were put into the smaller games i.e., the club was spreading "bigger games" without increasing the collection. My observation is that some managers also dislike blind raises because it "makes the customers go broke faster".

When we started no limit at The Bike I got to write the first drafts of the structures, so I made sure we allowed live straddles and included buy the button even in the smallest $100 games. I got a bit of heat but insisted live straddles were traditionally used in no limit. Yet most of the other clubs in town don't have it for the fixed/spread buy NL games. When I asked I was told it was against the law (or would screw up the jackpot). Go figure.

When it comes to finding the actual law, I'm not expert.

STRADDLES are a pure form of gambiling. like craps etc.
as for the full kill? no koo koo kaloo.
