has this one been done recently? I forget. anywho, what are some of your favorite rivalries/pairings of arch-enemies? here are some ones I like:
USA vs USSR: Now this one produced some historic moments. Cuban Missile Crisis, 1980 Hockey Game, Mr. Gorbachev Tear Down This Wall. Nuf said.

Internet Explorer vs Netscape:
Some youngsters may not realize that a company called Netscape once had the majority of the web browser market! This rivalry was fierce, but didn't last for very long due to various moves by Microsoft. It makes my list b/c of how drastically IE came out of nowhere to destroy Navigator:

Fox Mulder vs Cigarette Smoking Man. This was a hard one, b/c Krycek was also a formidable adversary for Mulder. But CSM wins b/c of his omnipresence and his blocking Mulder at every turn.

Athens vs Sparta. The 2 most dominant city-states in Greece. Uneasy allies vs the Persians, they ended up going 15 rounds in the Peloponnesian War. The war was so fierce that neither group was ever the same afterwards.
