No real read on villain. Should I have raise or folded the flop?

I don't mind this line, I think the flop call is read dependant. But against someone who likes to mix it up, I'll call there and see what develops on the turn. You are hoping for a turn check, and then you can check behind so that you can re-evaluate on the river. Given the turn card and bet, it's an easy fold.

with an easily dominated hand like A9 here, sometimes i like to raise this flop bet for information. i would raise to between 4 and 5.

then turn is standard, but the flop raise will give you more info. also, you have position here so use it. raising flop can give you momentum in the hand, and give you the option of a free card.
