Edit: Ooh and notice how quickly the opportunity for scientific discussion goes down the toilet in the comments... /images/graemlins/smile.gif

WOW! I cant conceive of how this evolved though! That's to say I can't see how the intermediate steps of this process would proceed. At what point would the wasp be able to do something to control the cockroach?

I guess it's something like something in a certain wasp's venom, or sting shape/position/movement caused the cockroach to move into conditions which favoured the wasp offspring survival (I dunno, to cause it to scurry under cover or something).

Isn't life wonderful!

Awesome story. I spent quite a bit of time in a bar with the head guy on this (our labs collaborated when I was in grad school) and I never get tired of hearing about it.
Creepy when you think about it though. And people think human are bad. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I think it's only a matter of time before the insects take over...seriously though, this stuff is spooky.../images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I think its sweet the way the wasp takes such good care of their babies.

pretty cool. Zombie ants and Haitian human zombies are cooler though. Then there are zombie jackets of human flesh.

Google it! or archive it.
