Echeck collection

I had 2 echeck deposits returned for nsf on pstars last weekend. I subsequently recieved an email saying the deposits would be resubmitted to my bank for payment within 5 business days. Then BINGO the echeck processors go busto on pstars.
So they immediately send these payments to collection.WTF???
Can these payments be legally collected??

Whether it is illegal or not(there will be arguments) the collection agency will try to collect. Since it will be a American collection agency they can report it to the Credit Bureaus which will hurt your credit history. I would just pay the damn thing and forego any problems.
