US poker needs help. I suggest the following:
1. Form a viable, permanent poker league (perhaps modeled somewhat along the lines of the American Contract Bridge League) to:
- promote poker in the public forum
- pursue changes to existing limiting legislation
- codify poker ediquette and push good etiquette into all major venues
- disseminate information
- provide specialized training and education
- expand the league concept internationally
2. Staff the effort with the equivalent of a savvy CEO, a legal expert, a PR specialist, an "ambassador," an editor/publisher and other support people as required. Few of these positions necessarily need to be full time paid participants, at least initially.
3. The effort needs sponsors from within the poker community. These sponsors need to have strong community standing and be above reproach legally and ethically.
I believe this is doable and needs to be done. Now.
