View Full Version : Playing small PP in BB too weakly?

Another common situation in these loose-to-semi-loose games. One late limper, SB completes and I check, say, 4 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif4 /images/graemlins/heart.gif ...

Flop comes 3x9xQx (or similar, where a pair of 4s is 3rd or bottom pair)

SB checks, I check, limper bets, we fold.

I'm betting those flops a lot - unless LP is the type that never folds.

I see late limping a lot with a few kinds of hands - small aces, unsuited broadway and small pocket pairs. Some will limp with large pairs to get action, but let's ignore that for now.

In my opinion, players loose enough (but not tricky) to open-limp in the CO or button will not fold the flop for one SB unless obv. beaten.

An ace will draw to it, a pocket pair will likely call. On a J- or T-high flop, I see Q8s calling ...

... I guess what I mean is, it's like betting overs into a cold-caller: they called two pre-flop, they're gonna see the turn. Betting into this open-limper, mostly, means they're seeing the turn and then you're faced with betting 44 into an unknown and hoping, or check-folding.

Maybe this is why hold'em is a positional game. I dunno.
