quick question.. why are MTT's known as donkaments? Is it because of the luck factor with too many people in a tournament?

so doesn't that mean like wpt, wspo, ept, the circuit events are donkaments in a way also? Since there's thousands of entrants?

Yes, there's a huge amount of luck in those tournaments. Although it would be extremely hard to win the WSOPME without some skill, it's actually pretty unlikely that any given winner would be the best poker player in the world by some objective standard.

I would suggest reading some of the tournament FAQs if you want to get a better since of the substantial luck factor in tournaments.

Because people who can't win them are insanely jealous of those big winners. Gotta find someone to insult them /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Actualy, the later stages of a tournament have very high blinds compared to people's stacks, thus most of the action is preflop with little room for postflop play. Add to the fact that blinds will continue to grow and most people will have to shove with less than optimal cards, and often bad beats will become very noticable (especially if they occur right before the final table) As stated before, a lot of luck is needed, and if you make it deep into a tourney, you probaly will have delivered quite a few bad beats yourself.

Also, there's the "tourney donk" phenomenon in which a tourney player will win big, think they are great, and move to a high stakes cash game in which they get crushed. Of course, this would happen to any player playing above their head but tourney donks tend to be more noticable.
