View Full Version : Weird JJ Spot

My read on our villain is that he is kind of a tight/semi-aggressive donkey. He showed down hands like K9s after making a UTG raise and playing his pair of kings pretty aggro. This was a weird spot for me, I knew if I checked the flop I'd get him to push with a hand like AQ or AK just because of the pot size; I thought I could hopefully trap him. Any thoughts?

I think I'm folding here unless you have seen him make reraises with less than premium hands. Do you really think his range is filled with hands that JJ is beating? I think if you are willing to go all in with this hand it should have just been done preflop. You didn't gain anything from seeing a flop and you didn't have the implied odds to hit a set profitably so I think just calling the reraise was bad IMO. All calling did was put you in a tough situation. I'm usually playing fuller games than this so maybe my ranges for the villain are off.

Yeah, I didn't want to influence the posts, but I don't like my call here either in hindsight. I think villains range for a reraise here is probably TT+ and AQ+ (with AQ being optimistic). Any thoughts?
