I think potting the flop or at least $2 would be better and I don't think the lead is the "wrong play."

I think you should bet bigger on the flop, although it might be tough to get villian to fold any decent draw here.

The turn is tricky, and I'm never too sure about the best COA. In general, I play it pretty much like you did (for what thats worth), except I probably bet a little smaller. I think it's a fairly easy fold, esp. with $$ behind. If he has a T, you have at most 3 outs. If he has hearts, you could be dead. And I really hate getting pot committed on the river with one pair.

I don't know what checking the turn would achieve besides potentially inducing a bluff. But even then it would be tough to call any decent size bet because that card completed so many draws.
