View Full Version : Was this pre flop call good bad or just plain ugly?

I'm switching from limit to no limit and I am still trying to get the hang of this.

I was yelled at in the chat for about 5 minutes after this hand for the call I made preflop.

Whats the standard line here against an unknown preflop?

My inital preflop raise of $2 was a mistake I meant for it to be $4

Yeah, it's marginal but not bad. Villain's just a whiny bitch probably.

How do you call TJdd here, when in your other post you folded JJ?

Good play. Your miniraise actually helped you. And it is great that your opponent is a very poor player.

Because they were sooooted!!!

But seriously I was under the impression that suited connectors were ok to call preflop vs large stacks.

In the other hand villain only had about $50 left after he 3 bet me preflop.

I'm a limit donk

He's deeper here and he has a hand that plays better postflop.

In other words, assume villain in both hands has AA. With JJ and 70 BB eff. stacks, he's not getting odds to hit a set, and there really aren't too many ways his hand can improve.

Here, he has JTs w/ 160 BB stacks. Assuming he's smart enough not to put money in just hitting a pair, he's got great implied odds to hit a straight/flush.

Yeah, pretty much. I didn't say it was totally standard to call preflop, just that it wasn't horrible.

I would probably still fold here most of the time against solid villains (b/c they have a wider 3-bet range and thus will stack off less often when you hit), and call vs. donkish villains (who usually 3-bet w/ only big hands and stack off with them).
