View Full Version : how to play KJ-KQ and AJ pre-flop

I hate these hands. Any recommendations? Do you raise late position with them or are they too worthless? Do you ever call raises with them? Assuming you have no idea about your opponent's playing style.

i openraise with them 100%. i raise limpers with them 100%. i reraise with them a small % depending on a lot of stuff

i limp them or check them in the blinds, i raise them from all other positions, if i have them in the blinds and CO or Btn raises i will 3bet occasionally. i never call raises with them unless its like a minraise.

i never call raises unsuited, sometimes suited, never oop

I open raise aj off or suited UTG, KQo sometimes and Kjo never

this is all assuming 6 max full

KJ - Raise preflop about 50% of the time, fold to most raises, limp otherwise.
KQ - Raise preflop 90% of the time if offsuit, 100% if suited. Call raises when suited, fold to raises ~50% of the time when offsuit.
AJ - Openraise everytime, call 1 raise, fold to 2.

What about AQ? do you ever call a raise with AQ? what about re-raise with AQ preflop.

This is assuming 10 max btw!
