FT NL 100, 6-max, 6-handed
The good news: mrs. epdaws is dusting the 100 level after she briefly swore off 200 (variance doesn't like her, either). The bad news: she called me in to help on this river, and I was like, huh?
Reads: In 90 hands Villain was 26/3/2. Mrs. epdaws remarked, "He's been practically invisible."
Villain has $100 and Hero covers.
Preflop: Mrs. epdaws is MP with Q/images/graemlins/spade.gif J/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG limps, Mrs. epdaws raises to $4.50, BB (Villain) calls, UTG folds.
Flop: ($10.50) 9/images/graemlins/club.gif 7/images/graemlins/heart.gif 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif
Villain checks, Hero checks.
epdaws: "Why didn't you bet that flop?"
Mrs. epdaws: "You said not to make a continuation bet every time."
Turn: ($10.50) J/images/graemlins/heart.gif
Villain checks, Mrs. epdaws bets $7.50, Villain calls.
River: ($25.50) Q/images/graemlins/club.gif
Villain checks, Mrs. epdaws bets $13, Villain shoves.
Hand range? Call or fold? Huh?
Mrs. epdaws: "That f$#%er."
epdaws: "I can't tell you what to do here -- you have the better feel for the table."
Mrs. epdaws: "That f#$%er."

Mrs. epdaws is a woman after my own heart. I curse like a maniac once someone pulls that on me. Racial slurs too. Anyways, this is a tough spot.
Against a tighter player, (25vpip not really tight, but 5 pfr is), I think that his most likely hand range are sets/sometimes strangely played JJ-AA, sometimes KT, sometimes other stuff. Her bet size on the river is pretty weak, and I would have made it more like $20. $13 might induce a c/r as it is such a weak bet.

I asked about this. She said the guy looked super weak and she bet half the pot for value. I actually told her I thought it was fine. How often does a 1/2 pot river bet get check/raised all in as a bluff?

As for the hand, no idea. I know that's lame, but idk. One of those impossible spots.

I dunno, I think that a $13 bet on the river will more likely be c/r-ed than a $20 bet. But thats jmo.

Is this literally a coin flip? Nothing that makes you lean one way or another? As the timer ran down, I said that I couldn't remember the last time someone made that play on me and I was good. At least, someone with crappy stats.

As far as I'm concerned the only hand that beats you is KT and I call this river quickly. I think you see something completely retarted often enough.

well i think villain never has a set unless its QQ given flop and turn play
I think he has missed hearts pouncing on weakness, J9 or Q9, or J10 that thinks its not good, a really badly played overpair, maybe Q10 that either thinks its not good or is doing it for value!?
I think given teh villains stats its close enough but I think call is definitely +ev

I think its a fold... Why isn't T8 suited or not a high possibility.

Wouldnt 108 lead the turn, or at least cr and vb the river?

T8, KhTh, and I wouldnt put it past someone with such passive stats to slowplay a set until the river either. Other than that she beats a bluff
"How often does a 1/2 pot river bet get check/raised all in as a bluff?
"
Practically never...

It feels like a slowplayed monster to me, but KT might be more probable. I don't know, 26/3/2 doesn't feel like the type to make this move with a weak hand. "invisible" :-D

Bleh I fold, but I definitely bet more on the river.

Meh, fold. If villain is "invisible" then I'm not sure why he would spring into action with a move like this with air.

easy easy fold IMO. (dbitel rule)
this is a strt 80% of the time, a set 15% and you might might be ahead 5% if you're really lucky

"We" (she) folded, but only after much dread and deliberation. I told her that I couldn't remember calling in a spot like that and being good.
DB,
Why do you think so many posters are advising a call? Optimism? /images/graemlins/smile.gif
