What is the probability of getting dealt KK and another getting dealt AA.. twice in under an hour? i got stacked twice for 200BB's in a matter of minutes, and im pulling my hair out thinking about the chances of that happening. negative variance sucks

Would you feel better if you knew that that is a very unlikely event?

Okay, here is your answer:

It is very unlikely.

(About once in 24 hands when you have KK another guy has AA. Since you are dealt KK once in 221 hands, the probability that you get KK and another guy has AA is about 1/5304. To compute the probability that this event occurs twice in a certain span of hands, you could use the Poisson-distribution, but what difference would it make?)

thanks for that information drbst. and yes it makes no difference to the fact that it happened, and is in the past.

Harrington addresses this in his first book. He says that 1 of 24 times you get K-K, someone will have A-A. He also said that even the best of pro's can't deduce when this has happened, so don't worry about it. Play it as if you are ahead pre-flop. That changes if an ace flops tho, of course. The fact that you got hosed twice in an hour sucks, but as we always say, that's poker.
