this is a dead serious post. how the FU** do you win against these freaking idiots. he took over 2 dollars from me all because he would minraise push back at me every cbet, suckout on me, or i just wouldnt hit my hand by the river. take this hand for example. i figured him for an 8, the only way someone would be calling a bunch of bets on this board, that or a flush draw. the river came, i missed, then called him down because i wanted to see his 8. much to my surprise. WTF mates? seriously, how am i down against players like this?

standard win 50 cents then lose 2 dollar session. i just wasted an hour tryin to make it back.

just popped KQ vs this idiot, i flop the gutshot straight draw, cbet, minraised, called, then the three flush hits, i check just in case, he checks behind, a blank comes out, i check again figuring he was going to raise any bet i made since he had the flush now and he was a passive idiot. he checks behind and turns over top two. seriously give me a fu**ing break. make that down 4 dollars. /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Maybe. Apparently she does a better job of not tilting, though. Sweating does not have to be about strategy advice, just having her there to make you stop playing could help. That is: she can probably tell very well when you are starting to tilt, seeing as how she should know you pretty well.

But if you really don't want her there, just go with the sex. It helps. Barry Greenstein even said so! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

lol SB play in that hand is terrible.

Mistakes I've made at the poker table lately:

Check raising a super scary board with a set. Terrible idea, the guy with TPTK put me on the nuts (A straight). Great.

Playing slightly too loose versus a very aggro LAG (30/20/4, he was decent). I stacked him for 200BB, but he got the better of me too often. I reraised slightly too loose versus him. I cbet too often (he played back WAY too often). Oh, I didn't call enough preflop with marginal hands ahead of his range.

If your ever 200BB deep with other people, raise all pairs preflop, always. I learned this the hard way when raising a set on a AQ5 board. Crappy player who led played hands like 92o etc. Terrible play by me.

Things i did well lately:

Probably my biggest feat, I dropped either 50 or 75 bucks in about 15 minutes at a 25NL table. It was somewhat sick, although the hands could have been partly avoided. I shoved a flush draw multiway when I thought I had a lot of fold equity - oops hi top set. I got it in with a guy who had 12 outs on the flop, he hit gg two pair. 40/1/whatever stacked me when he hit a set and minraised a drawy flop. I should probably post that hand. I think I misunderstood table dynamics at the time, which i'm trying to get a handle on. At any rate, I didn't tilt, which was amazing. I made it back in like 40 minutes, and 25 or 30 was from that very table. They all left, which sucks cause the table was hugely fishy.

I made a really nice double barrell against a loose/bad opponent. Reads are nice. I mostly adjusted to table conditions in that hand IMO.

I bluffed that decent lag off a crappy pair, when I backed into 12-15 outs on the turn. He folded, said he had the best hand. It was nice, helped me stack him later when he hit TP-ten kicker.

Oh, I outplayed the [censored] out of a bad lag. He had to slow down because I would often outplay him with bluffs, or he'd get ensared in a hand when I had a doozy. He also tended to bluff into a calling station (me). I read hands better than him. Poor bugger.

humm maybe I'll make a blog to note all the things I did poorly at the table on a certain day. Probably be a decent idea. Meh, effort, work...

Not a bad beginning to 2007. Started down big without losing any huge hands, just was ridiculously cold decked, couldn't hit anything. Then things started turning around, I got paid off on a couple sets, played one AQ hand pretty well multiway to win a big pot, and profited.

Which streets? obviously the turn. however the turn 2 dollar bet was meant to guarantee him AI, as he had about 4.5 left, and would be overtly pot committed. admittedly that was the first time i have actually tried that, and it did let him draw. bbbbbbbbbad.

would you have raised bigger on the flop? to 4? did you look at this stack size? its 7

yea, a single hand or two just ruins a session. my first hand of my most recent 45 minute session i have JJ in BB. of course a Q hits the flop and i throw a little value bet just in case. turn who knows but i get it all in with a shortstack. duh he has QQ.

made another stupid move later with a 10-K board, villian had to have an ace but was complaining about rake which was what i thought a strange way to say dont bet. i value bet him on the river again when i could have seen for free.

the rest of the session i took down tons of pots, didnt make up for the two junk hands though. down another 2 dollars = 2007 sucks.

AA<<<KK preflop, 77 no goot on flop 766 in $135 pot 3 ways (quads obv), tpgk +FD<tptk, OESD+over<hi card ace (he had a gutshot, lol)

What are you hoping to accomplish with the AA there? I probably just call hoping to hit the 4th club. There's no real need to "protect" your hand, you have the highest FD and you probably get pushed back at by sets/made flushes. In the QQ hand I think villain had odds to call your all-in with over+FD. If you're gonna raise UTG to $6 I just go all-in preflop or raise it to $13, I don't like having people along for the ride when I got JJ against a shorty. I would probably just call his minraise though, he wont fold any two facecards (in which case you're tossing) and he obv. won't fold QQ-AA in which you're WB. I look to call his $1 and get in on flop w/out facecard.

But doesn it make sense to just push over villain's min-raise PF? Why make such a large raise to $13? If I raise to $6 and villain pushes then I can isolate him if anyone calls but to make such a large isolation play after he just minraises is bad I think. Oh, and also just calling the minraise with JJ after a few people call is really really bad.

Then right after I go on a sick heater. I get AQ and double up from .50 to 1.00. Then I get AA with a full $10 stack, a solid player raises from early position, I'm in the BB I type "screw it" and shove all in, he calls me with 88. Then in a blind war my Q4 flops trips and rivers quads and I get a guy to put his hole stack in with Qs full. Then I raise with 44, flop a set and get a guys stack who flopped a pair of Aces with AQ. I also get KK 3 more times in 40 hands and take down the flop preflop once, and after the flop twice.

so january has not gone so well for me so far, today was beginning the same way, i lost 50 cents real quick on a missed draw(5NL), then just sat for a while stealing blinds(thanks PAHUD, just got the serial today). after 100 hands of stealing blinds and being colder than eskimo coot, this little beauty pops up.

the villian wasnt getting out of line, until the few hands before this one. had raised preflop the last 3-4 hands, i called him down to fold the river with pocket 10's the previous hand hoping to hit. he was giving me odds and bet 10 cents on every street, same as his preflop raise. i had position on him as well. so this hand comes next, i smile and tell my monitor that i want him to raise again.

CO has 3c Ac (one pair, aces).
Hero has Kc As (straight, ace high).

A3? ship it.

on a side note, without PAHUD, none of my breakeven over the last 90 hands would have been possible. i dont steal all that often unless i see someone that is folding every hand and plays one every few orbits. PAHUD showed me the goods so i could play better. i single tabled for probly an hour just so i can get used to have the stats and quickly determine what is up with a hand, without letting the stats determine how i play preflop.(no limping with A4o just because OOP villian limps and plays 90% of his hands.)

Crazy day of poker that started off by getting two outered, but ended up nicely. Could have been big without the rough start, and a couple other bad beats, but got ridiculously lucky with JJ vs. QQ on 444 flop when A hit turn and case 4 hit river.

Mmm. If you dont know how much to reraise preflop, reraise 3.5 times + 1 for every caller.

Flop bet is not close to the pot. 50 is close to the pot.

On the turn he has 1.7 behind and you bet 0.9? If you want to bet here you have to shove. Besides, Q is good for you. Gives you more outs against AJ.

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is CO with T/images/graemlins/spade.gif T/images/graemlins/club.gif

BB is 33/5 2/7.5/2 over 250 hands (mined)
UTG is a donkey
Hero is a TAG, would you fold bottom set here?

My main question is would you take a reserved seat betwen BTN and Hero is with the nitTAG(Hero) on my right and the donkey with 200bbs one to the right?

[/ QUOTE ]

I prolly call. Villian just isnt good enough imo to fold. yea he is semi nitty but u have a set and sets r tha nutz /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think his range here is AT, AQ, AK, KJ, AA, QQ (altho i dont think he plays a set or straight so quick all that often so i think those r smaller parts of his range.)

As for picking a seat i insta take tha seat (not totally sure if i understand the question exactly but here is my interpretation (if im wrong lemme kno or pm me or sumtin). u r prolly better then the guy sitting directly to ur right so that isnt a huge problem and u r obv better then tha fish. tha fish is deep (yayayayayay) and u have position. i would sit one to the right of a deep stacked fish no matter who sits between us. u r +EV no matter wut.

Kaz

I tried to pokerstove it but my version has expired and the website was offline I'm redownloading it now /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Using your range gives the following:

Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

136,620 games 0.010 secs 13,662,000 games/sec

Board: Ac Th Qs
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 43.394% 42.76% 00.63% 58423 862.00 { AA, QQ, AQs+, ATs, KJs, AQo+, ATo, KJo }
Hand 1: 56.606% 55.97% 00.63% 76473 862.00 { TT }

Interestingly which is one of the reasons I posted this hand as I remember a fim post where a SET vs made str8 is ~33% equity as shown below:

Text results appended to pokerstove.txt

47,520 games 0.005 secs 9,504,000 games/sec

Board: Ac Th Qs
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 65.120% 64.67% 00.45% 30729 216.00 { KJs, KJo }
Hand 1: 34.880% 34.43% 00.45% 16359 216.00 { TT }

So a flopped str8 vs a set has 15% edge - more reason IMHO to shove turn with made str8s if you suspect a set is a large aprt of their range.

Thanks for answering the seat question - I've been trying to seat select better and would sit down.

FWIW I couldn't fold bottom set there and I think the PStove supports it. I didn't think BB would play the nut str8 this fast (like you said too) but he did, TAG called and didn't boat. Another big stack to sit with /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Don´t know if this the right place to ask, but...

I have my Bankroll divided at UB and PP.

1) I plan to put all money in one account and don´t have 1/2 in ub and 1/2 in pp!? I always found it good to have another site to play on if you run bad at the other.

So, better splitt or put it together???

2) Is PartyPoker the best option?

Is there a reason to prefer ps or ft over pp?

Thanks for any thoughts...

In the last 2 days, I lost more than 1/4th of my (tiny) bankroll. There was certainly a lot of bad play involved, just as a shortstack strategy that hit quite some bad luck. I cashed out, because that's what I do, when I tilt: I cash out and swear, I never play again. Then I calm down and feel like a wuss, because all others just keep trying.

So now I have some tiny $140 on neteller. I was playing on stars before. Where do you recommend I take it? I see lots of people posting hands from FT here. I've never played there. Should i give it a shot? I'm from europe so us legislation is not an issue.

Take it to NL10 on either FT (if you have RB -> Don't laugh if you get a decent amount of hands in you are still looking at a decent % of your BR in rakeback even at NL10) or Stars.

But I have yet to find a site where NL10 isn't populated by monkeys so you can't go wrong anywhere. I had an incredibly profitable strecth at IPOKER (Titan specifically). Not as many tables to chose from but horrid opposition and minitables.

I completly agree Kaz with your analysis the set(no pfr rrz)/str8 are much less likely in his range and AK AQ or pair+gutshot more likely so more like 60/40+.

Personally I've found the 10NL game at Stars to be extremely soft. See my earlier post where I value bet 2nd pair on the river. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

For the interface, support, number of 6-max tables, and player base, I think Stars would still be my #1 pick today.

Are there any poker rooms in existence that have proper BI rules? I spend 15 minutes every session on party trying to find a table where less than half of the players are shortstacks and then when they bust they are getting replaced by 20BB buyers.

Go try Doyle's Room, LOL...I think the min. is 10BB and the max is 200BB. It makes for some interesting pots.

Stars is nice b/c they make the default buyin at NL50 $30, so the donks usually just click ok

Google trendmicro and run their free virusscan.

Download the following for free from download.com:
-lavasoft adaware
-spybot search & destroy
-zonealarm

Never store passwords, and always keep these programs updated and run them a few times a week.

Eric, that sucks, I fell terrible for you.

You're the peoples mod, our fearless leader down here. If anybody wants to have a tournament with, say, maybe 50-90% of the proceeds to going to you as a start to rebuilding your bankroll if this doesn't get straightened out, I'd be up for it.

why is everyone so crazy about not storing passwords. some of the biggest techies and paranoid people i know save most if not all of their passwords on their machine. bottom line, if someone wants it, you not saving it wont stop them.

i would contact neteller and see if they guarentee your funds. you might also want to contact the poker sites you play on where the money was sent. they should be able to match the transactions to where the money is and trace it down. most likely it was transferred to "you", then transferred to someone else, then withdrawn or lost. at least they will have a better idea of who is doing what on their site and possibly shut some of the thieves down, and/or retrieve some of your money.

Password protect your computer too, so that no one can access it without your log-on password.

On a lighter note, this is a nice way to start a session. Villain is an 80+/21/2.8 downie, so I let him hang himself. Turns out I didn't need to, I was stacking him no matter what on that flop.

Go try Doyle's Room, LOL...I think the min. is 10BB and the max is 200BB. It makes for some interesting pots.

Stars is nice b/c they make the default buyin at NL50 $30, so the donks usually just click ok

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the buy-ins are max 200bb until NL100, where it's capped at 100bb. The minimum is 10bb. You get a lot of short stacks, but 99 percent of them are huge donkeys. My favorites are the ones that buy in for 10bb, post out of position, then fold.

a check minraise on the flop is typically a good indicator that AT unimproved is not best /images/graemlins/smile.gif and especially when u dont have n e FE. villian is to short to fold so he is callin with 22 or AJ which absoltuly kills ur EV in this spot.

how many tables?

u r in decent shape cuz once u get to silver or wutever is under gold u get 1.5x each point so once u make it to 1.5k points it starts goin a lot faster

probably varience but who knows. we cant tell a ton with just this post. assuming u arent playing only QQ+ and folding everything else u r prolly just runny crappy.

stats are like 18/12. playing on stars and full tilt. oh well, i guess i have nothing to complain about since i'm not losing, just kinda confused at how passive everyone is so far.

The points needed to attain a new level status are Base VPP's anyways. The 1.5x just allows you to use more at the FPP Store. I've calculated that to reach Platinum would be ~42k hands/month. You get about 24 base pts/100 hands at NL50!

I started playing semi-seriously in november, and have been multitabling lightly and winning fairly consistently on pokerstars. In december I achieved GOLD status (played about 9k hands) and I decided that in the year 2007, I would get to the point where I actually had money for things.

I decided that this month I was going to:
a. Get to platinum status (pokerstars)
b. Make enough to buy a new laptop. 17'' so I can play 12+ tables. My current laptop is an 850 mhz pentium 3 with a 12'' screen (so bad).

I don't go back to school till the 12th, so I figured I could get a TON of hands in before then. On the 1st I was hung over as hell at my friend's house all day, so I started playing on the 2nd.

I ran pretty decently at first, 9-tabling. Usually 6-8 tables of .25/.50 fr, and possibly a multi or a couple tables of .5/1 fr. I'm not used to grinding a ton, but I don't mind it. Eventually I worked my bankroll up to 1800 and cashed $300 out. This was around hand 5700 - see graph.

Then... WTF???? I have been plummeting hardcore since then. I don't know what's going on. I ran really bad at my .5/1 tables and played some .5/1 6-max and ran really awful, but now I feel like my cards are pretty average, and I'm still doing badly.... someone hold me?

15 buy in downswing to complete a 30k breakeven stretch here. All you can do is try and stay positive and try not to smash anything. 10k hands of breakeven happens to good players even so don't sweat it. Dont hit the panic button yet and post some hands , get a different point of view.

Hey guys,

I've been a SSNL poster for about 7 months or so now, and I've been playing NL Hold'em exclusively since then. I have a blog, legopoker.com.

I am going to offer free coaching to one or two students whom play $25NL -> $50NL. Coaching sessions would involve us talking about any poker ideas/theories/hand histories, on skype or AIM. Also, once per week we will have a sweat session where I watch you play and see how your game evolves/improves/etc.

I've never coached before, although I've been coached by some of the top MSNL players.

Why Free?
Lately I've been a break even player @ my normal stakes $200 NL. Coaching you helps both our games because I will be thinking critically, analytically, and will get to take a break from my normal stakes to observe how players play at the lower levels. This should get my head back into thinking about poker correctly, which will help me to win at my own level, while hopefully helping your game also.

To "apply" for this, just throw me a PM, and within a few days I will select at least one, maybe two players.

This wonderful hand turned my session into breakeven...I sucked horribly today but Lee sent me quads from Bahamas..

My last two days of play. Day one, good. Day 2, bad. I want to blow my brains out right now. Shared trips with worse kicker twice, had some bluffs that didn't work, and some retarded suckouts of course. The thing is, on my good day I didn't put any beats on people. So why do I deserve this?

Today I keep wanting to sit back down and win it back but I'm literally losing $50 within 30 minutes of sitting down. I've just been getting over a near 30,000 hand breakeven stretch. Now I'm not sure it's over. BTW if any of you have played with me and seen me do some donkish stuff let me know. I'm not sure I know how to play this game at all.

hey mods,

I'm going on vacation in a few minutes..when I get back, I would love to see "sucks at $25NL 6max" as my title..at about 4000 posts, I think I need a custom title..and I hope it will drive me to work on changing that title eventually /images/graemlins/heart.gif

just want to chime in and say the 50NL games on PokerStars are rediculously nitty

I'm working my way back up the food chain, and I feel sorry for those just starting out. These tables are more difficult than the ones I had to deal with at 100NL about a year ago. Way too many nits and 15/5/3 guys. Good luck to anyone playing that.

BTW- stay out of my 12-tabling way....I'll hurt you
