I want the assumption to be that villain is chasing his flush, and not focus on the vulnerable Ax hero holds that could possibly be beat.....

about $2.5 makes his call break-even, so anything over that

This neglects the implied odds and size of bet that Hero will pay on club river.

FWIW, I will typically bet 1/2 - 3/4 pot and often put in a PSB when I know villain will chase. I prefer to have them make a bigger mistake and the times you fold them out are made up for by the donks that call.

In this case, I have trouble getting by the A4s and the fact that you're easily on the worse end of this.

You can always change the hand to represent the scenario you want. It doesn't always have to be an authentic hand.

i know but OP asked for pot odds, he didnt say anything about implied

ignoring implied, or the fact villian could have other outs (2 pair, gutshots etc) with the draw, then bet at least half pot.

now, if u are definitly not paying off a club, then he has no implied. this is ignoring any other possible outs, if you feel he has potential to have multiple draws, bet more.

If you think he has 9 outs on the river, he will hit it 9 times out of 44, ~20% of the time. A 1/4 pot bet will require a 20% PSB from him - so you need to bet this as a minimum.

Of course, you need to bet more than this for several reasons.

He might have more than 9 outs.
You might pay him off on the river (if he bets it small enough).
He will usually call more anyway.
A small bet might induce a bluff that you fold to.
Etc.

Please let me know if my math(s) is out.

I would bet more than 1/2 pot if I think villian is on a FD, atleast 2/3 of the pot but probably something like 3/4 and sometimes a PSB. This would mean he would have to have GREAT implied odds to call. Asumming he has no implied odds and you will fold if a club hits I would say 2/3-3/4 of the pot sounds good.

what everyone else said at least 1/2 or more.
I know that OP says to assume FD but you are in sucko shape agianst his range in this hand.

You want your opponent to make a big mistakes, betting 1/4 pot would make calling breakeven for him. 1/2 - 3/4 is about the right amount here IMO, as he makes a big mistake as long as you donīt frequently pay off large river bets.

1/2 pot is pretty standard
