Villian is an unknown, I've been at the table for 2 orbits and he has yet to contest a hand. When he calls my raise pf, I'm assuming a pocket pair or two high cards.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool (http://poker-tools.flopturnriver.com/Hand-Converter.php) from FlopTurnRiver.com (http://www.flopturnriver.com) (Format: 2+2 Forums)

MP ($53.95)
CO ($96)
Button ($7.75)
SB ($18.30)
BB ($5.95)
Hero ($50.75)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 7/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 7/images/graemlins/club.gif.
Hero raises to $2, 3 folds, SB calls $1.75, 1 fold.

Flop: ($4.50) 2/images/graemlins/club.gif, 5/images/graemlins/club.gif, 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $4, SB calls $4.

Turn: ($12.50) 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players)
SB checks, Hero ???

I know if I had a read on this guy, it would help. Villian can be on a flush draw here, so I would hate to give him a free card. On the other end if he's got an overpair, if I bet, he could raise and so I'm pot committed.

Why do you assume this? He's a shortstack, he could have anything here. This is an awkward (sp?) spot though. I would probably bet 9$ here and call a push b/c there's so many draws out there and I want to get value out of him somehow. He's obv not folding a 5 or probably not an 8. I think this is close to EV neutral situation.

Overs, club draw, overpair, set in that order for me.

1. Bet 3/4 pot to push him out
or
2. Check to try to get to a cheap showdown

I favor the check for pot control. Obviously you're letting him draw for free, but I really don't want to play a big pot here.
