I'd raise a bit more preflop and bet a bit more on the flop to make sure he doesn't just call because it looks weak.

Other than that check/folding seems fine to me unless you have some kind of read on the guy.

I would go at least 1 preflop.

If you get called then lead the flop strongly about pot and shut down if you get called, fold to a raise.

I wouldn't change preflop, that raise is already pretty big. I'd cbet about 1.30, then check fold the turn.
