What was the point of Jesus dying? God recognized the infinite amount of sin that mankind was responsible for, so he sent his son to earth to die for our sins. What's the point of this blood sacrifice? Why does a sacrifice have to be made for god to forgive our sins? In the Old Testament, didn't people use blood sacrifices to appease god of their sins? But what's the point, it just seems like pointless barbarism.

So now that Jesus has died for our sins, we no longer have to make blood sacrifices in order for our sins to be forgiven. We have to believe in the divinity of Jesus through faith. But the crux of Christianity is still based on blood sacrifice.

What's the point of blood sacrifice? We've done something bad, so we have to make up for it by taking a life? Why does god require blood sacrifices? Why can't people be forgiven for their sins by simply admitting/confessing them and showing remorse? That's basically what we can do now, but it required the blood sacrifice of Jesus to be that way. WTF, why?

The early christians had to concoct some story to rationalize how an omnipotent being could get nailed to a pole and not be able to do anything about it. So this is what they came up with. It's pathetic when you think about it.

When you offend an infinite being as Adam and Eve had done, you offend Him infinitely. The only way to appease this is to make reparation with an infinite sacrifice. As man is incapable of doing that on his own, God incarnated his Son to do this. Any suffering by Jesus would have infinite merit.

Of course, the slighest suffering undergone by Jesus had infinite merit, so he did not have to undergo the bloody sacrifice of the Cross. But He chose to simply to demonstrate to man how grievously offended God is by sin, and how much he will do for a repentant sinner.

Given that God created us, and knew that we would sin, being omniscient, couldn't he have just got over it?
