View Full Version : set of 8 vs. LAG going AI

Villain was playing LAG (38/6/2.6). He was stealing a few pots and showing his cards to prove it.

I'd appreciate advice on whether you would call the turn AI by villain. Also, did I back myself into a corner by reraising the turn? Would you have taken a different line?
Any other advice/suggestions? I know that not raising this preflop was awful and probably got me in this mess. It was a misclick (I was 4-tabling at the time)

your quite deep here, he got a free flop so you could easily be beat here by A4, or 46. He would also probably play a smaller set in this way. He isn't bluffing here ever, so yeah this is tough 200 deep, I probably call here.

I agree that I'm too deep to get away at this point. Do you see yourself as ahead or behind at this point?

He may have a straight, but he also could have quite a few other hands (smaller set, bigger pair, two pair is very possible considering he got to see the flop for free, flush draw with a pair, straight draw with a pair, even just AK if he's real crazy). With your ten outs to a boat or quads I think you've got to call. You're gettings about 2-1 on your call and I think you're ahead about half the time (if not more) and have enough outs to make it worthwile when you are behind.

Hero has to call at the end of the action. But should he be reraising after the c/r?

What about what to do after getting c/r'd? Anyone...?

Raise preflop, pot the flop.

You're not folding your set, so don't 3 bet the turn unless you want all the money in (your read will determine whether or not you want to). He really played this hand exactly like a draw that got there based on flop C/C and turn C/R.

Not many players C/R a draw at 50NL. I would call the first raise and call the river.

Thank you for your enlightening contribution to the forum. Your explanation of why you dislike the poster's line was very well thought out, and your argument for another line was well argued. I hope that your other thousand posts approached such a stellar response as this one.
