I raise here a lot, but if your just gonna call then you have to raise the turn.

I only raised him 10.5 dollars to 14.5 making the pot around $34 after the villain called.....the river brings the 9spades and villain checks and Hero checks???????

how much??? what is his range here that he calls???? i could only put him on a boat i thought he had either only one of these hands 34s(unlikely to me at the time), 33, 44, or 77 after he called the turn and then when he checked the river only 34s,33, or 44....there was no other hands i could put him on....should i be putting him on a larger range of hands to make this a clear value bet???

That range is way too narrow, if he has a boat he will bet the river after he already played the hand so slow. Assuming he has some sort of pair he's going to pay off most bets but I think you should get as much money in asap in this hand, and most others when you have the nuts or close to it.

what else would you think he had???

i did end up checking behind and he showed 44 for the boat....that being said...what range should i be putting him on here....i thought about the value bet for about 20 seconds before finally deciding on checking, in the future is this a value bet??

For me - pre-flop is fine. I don't agree with the fold or raise line here with this type of hand. You've got a few limpers, its fine to see a cheap flop with it.

On the flop I definitely raise this up - this kind of straight is slightly vulnerable - and you could also get an action killing card, so get some money in there whilst you know you are good.

Having raised the flop, I bet pot.

I am a little on the weak tight side, so I think your river play is fine. You're playng against seemingly decent opposition and he should know that a straight is possible yet he keeps calling - this says set/two pair to me and he could have filled up, so I don't mind checking behind. I know others will say you lose value here by doing this most of the time.
