Interesting assignment

In my critical thinking course today i got an assigmnet to compose an argument for/or against one of these statements

- Same sex couples should not be permitted to marry

- Al Qaeda's war upon United States is justified.

there are a couple of more but these seem like the best candidates.

We have only 4 pages double spaced and SHOULD limit ourselves to only 2-3 arguments while also considering objections to your position OR providing negative arguments (this is referring to presenting the other side of the issueand state why that position is wrong).

What 2/3 arguments would be the best to chose assuming that i want to write that same sex couples should be allowed to marry, or that the war is not justified.....
what negative arguments would you make?

I think you are going to have a hard time arguing that Al Qaeda's actions were not justified. The same sex marriage topic is much better. Argue that marriage is a legal construct entirely apart from its religious history and therefore cannot be denied on the basis of sexual preference.

Or you could argue that gay marriage should not be allowed, in which case I always enjoy the old standyby, "God created Adam and EVE, not Adam and STEVE!!! /argument"
