So, the year is coming to a close. But hey, we got one more month to play.

Post all your crap here that doesnt deserve its own thread.

Got a funny hand? Interesting graph? A good story? Questions that don't deserve their own post?

Post them here.

Also, Id like to wish my Dad a happy birthday. Im sure that hell find this thread eventually, so here it is, happy birthday. Now, start playing NL cash and no more donkaments

Enjoy.

God it feels so nice to go on a sick rush. Took a shot last night at NL 100, which failed miserably, thanks to hands such as AK<A9 AI PF. Moved back to NL 50 today, and started off hot, then went ridiculously card dead. After 2k hands, I was basically break even. The last couple hundred hands were just sick though:

now this guy was on serious monkey tilt although he wasnt moving far from his game. i had been card dead for a few orbits and i felt like he was just trying to push me off. i was close, but he did have a little something. right after i called he mentioned in the chat he was dead, as luck had it, i was able to make my straight and take home the dough. he is probly beating his dog or something now. i KNOW he is tilting harder because of this from his chat after the cards flipped over. i think he was more pissed that i won with J10 than that i won as he went into the hand planning to lose if i had called. who knows what goes through these minds.

this was the very last hand i played. this hand happened on the table where the two suckouts/bad beats took place above. he bet into me but i felt like he didnt have a real strong hand. i raised it big, he called. i was surprised. on the turn the K came out, i got a little scared but he checked and i fired all in. he took forfreakinever to make his decision but eventually he folded. he had me covered too so if i had lost, busto at that table for me. cant believe he layed it down though, he was really quick to bet that flop and then quick to call my big raise. wonder if he thought i had trip K.

The Grand Finally: I so badly wanted to stack Villain in this hand. He was by far the biggest donk at the table, and loveable calling station.

Nice end to November. Bring on December. I'm feeling good, life is decent, and I can finally read betting patterns.

Also,I'm moving back home to Minnesota after 2 years of treading water in California (have made some really good friends though /images/graemlins/frown.gif). I haven't made more money doing my graphic design than I am now.

'I am sorry your wired funds have not arrived into our account with Barclays bank U.K; due to the recent legislation passed in the United States(UIGEA) USD wired funds are subject to delays in New York and are either returned to sender (originating bank) or pushed through to our account at Barclays U.K. This process might take up to 10 days.'

WTF, i live in Australia and these stupid laws are affecting even me. This is ridiculous, so now i have to recall my wire, then resend it in euros coz America thinks they can control the world. I just wanna get started in online poker and now this has happened... so fustrating

Some 800 hands of NL50 as well but there I'm down (-$40) so I'm sticking to NL25 for a little longer.

Just a god awful month for me...down about $500 on the month....every time I got a donk all-in when I have 2pair+ on the flop they'd counterfeit on river. Very frustrating, and probably tilted away another 2-3 buyins. Oh well, I'm not done yet and hopefully I can make a run tonight. And if I see my AA beat by a donk calling $3 OOP with 82 suited one more time I'm gonna flip out....haha

I hate you november! I was doing good, untill last 2 days, played more hands than ever, and better than ever. Still I managed to lose. I can't remember the last time I won with pocket aces allin preflop. Might as well fold them next time.
And to all the shortstacks.... please die. I raise to the usual $2 with pocket fives I get one caller then a shortstack goes allin $10... sigh fold. Seriously if you got less then half the buy in just get the f out.

Anyways I'm only going to play a real life freezeout donkament during the weekend, and I hope they have the button that makes me automatically lose every hand on the river turned off again.

Nah most of the time I get too many callers, and most of them are shortstacks, I get no value from raising suited connectors from late position or raising low pocket pairs from early position. Offcourse I tried it, but most of the time I'm not headsup and if I am my cbet isn't working. And if I do hit my set I'm up against a shortstack, so I raise practically all pairs from late position, the higher suited connectors from late position 99+ from early position AK from early position A-J from late position.
When I got some tight players on my left I raise more offcourse. I suspect that this site is rigged though, no way someone with 50/3%/1.20 stats can be a big winning player... Compared to other players I raise a lot preflop /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I did get another $250 of bonus on top of my winnings though /images/graemlins/smile.gif Kind of a beat that my bonus is higher then my winnings.

Gelford

Yeah yeah ... no offence K, but take it from a long time degenerate gambler.

Right now you do not play much, it is for fun, you sample size is small etc etc .. and basically the money you win or lose means nothing, so you are rightly having fun. Which is fine.

But ... !

You see, you are making it a habit to be result oriented over small sample sizes ... and right now, when you do not play much, they seem as huge samplesizes and you feel it is ok to do so.

The thing is, if you ever start playing more ... and perhaps at higher stakes where money mean more (even if they shouldn't) ... you will be in the habit of being shortterm result oriented
And you know, you are going to hit downswings ... and if you have that habit, it will break you. Not to mention most likely also induce some major monkey tilting.

Variance in poker can be sick, and believe me, there is really no need to focus on shortterm results and making a habit of it.

You also should be going YES! i got my aces all in pf, ok they lost, but they where all in pf ... power to me, I'm making money here!!!

That perhaps I just should fold them pf talk is destructive beyond belief.

Finally this is uNL with all the noobs, who may or may not know better. Hearing you talk like this might give them the impression that such talk is normal and well ... harm them as well.

I know that this is the low content thread and we are allowed to vent etc etc, but with moderation. I believe it should be for posting hands that either are funny or win big or community stuff.

Also complaining that you are in a downswing looking for support is more than ok.

But nitpicking over small samples and bad beats ... nah, there is a BBV forum for that.

This is my view and not a 2+2 view. It is also my usual rant, I know. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

And no offense what so ever, I am just an old geezer repeating myself, but that is because I believe I have a valid point.

I've been talking about going to bed for ages now, better do. Night all .. and go stack some donks !! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good post Gelford, I can't post it in bbv though /images/graemlins/smile.gif They don't like us micros :P.

But I was just being grumpy, I believe it isn't rigged and it was just bad luck. It is frustrating though because I was playing better than before, as in adapting to the tables, got the money in at the right time and still losing because some donk with a back door straight draw thinks it is a good time to call a allin on the flop :P But my rant is long enough now, let's hope I win the donkament on Sunday then everything is good /images/graemlins/smile.gif. And I still got some time to play next month (not that much though, Africa here I come!)

@Anjorush, very nice graph keep up the good work!

Yes, I had KJ /images/graemlins/heart.gif's. Nice laydown.

FWIW, the pot was laying me exactly 2.13:1, and I needed 2.3:1 to correctly make that call. Factor in implied odds if I hit the river, and it's correct.

I won't be down in 25NL, so you won't have to worry about me sucking out on you every hand. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

So i've been maintaining a steady 10ptbb/100 winrate at 50 nl 6max, and decided to take my first shot at 100nl. It was lots of fun. Here's the graph:

http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/8540/100nlshoted5.jpg

And here's the story:

So at first I start out playing one table, but I usually play 4 at 50nl. This gets a little boring, so I fire up a second one, and start concentrating on reads, and players at the table. After about an hour I realise that I am playing extremely weak, but still by usual loose pf range, which does not make for a good combo. People are 3betting my pf raises and i'm folding everytime, especially this one tag sitting on my immediate left. I'm not liking this, and I tell myself I should really play the same game as NL 50, and see where it takes me. So for the next half hour I'm no longer folding to the 3bets but calling, and folding to the flop cbet. The worst of it is that the tag is 3betting every single one of my steals, wether it be from the sb or co. Luckily I get a glimpse at his range when a shortie pushes for slightly more and of course he is 3betting light.

This is when the best hand of the day occurs, and I play it like a donkey, like super-donkey.

Please note my expert bluff-call.
To be honest, I was (and still am) convinced I was making the right play, however I messed up with the raise size, probably by miss reading the pot size at the time in my rush to pull off this bluff. I had not reraised a single hand post flop in which I was not the pfr during the ~2h session I was there, and if I had not bet so much, i'm confident he would've folded his overcards in a second, as well as lower pairs, and maybe even overs or TPTK.
Edit: Had I raised the correct amount I would not have called his push, as I wouldn't have had the impression I was pot commited as I did here.

Despite this atrocious move, I was not phased one bit, I even laughed thinking it over. Although down one BI, I was determined to beat this game. I open up two more tables, and start playing my normal game.

From this point on, I play good, and run good. flop a set or two, big hands hold up, flushes get there, and I get paid off every single time (meta-game, anyone?), I end up having 400bbs on two of my 4 tables, slight loser on a third, and shaking my head after the 5th rebuy on the last. but I manage to run my overall winnings to +4BIs, and decide to quit at 5.

Unfortunately, by this time, i've been playing for 7hours or so, the longest poker session i'ver ever played, and I am having a very very hard time concentrating. I then proceed to lose a huge pot: flop a set of tens, do not slowplay it, turn puts 3 to a flush on board and river doesn't pair. OH well, that's poker.

Sadly i am so tired at this point that I do not remember a single hand after this, and end up quitting up $7, at least I didn't lose anything!

Overall, I had loads of fun, played close to 10hours of poker (not willing to do so again anytime soon) didn't end up down, and am very eager to take my second shot in december.

Cheers

this hand was unbelievable. proof that the donks arent gone yet. i didnt feel like he had the flush or the flush draw, in fact, i felt like he was just trying to suck something out. i was right, i also lost cause he did suck.

Lots of pennies earned at $2FRNL. I thought UB had a FR game with a .05c big blind. Few more $$$ and I will have 30 buyiuns for $10 NL.

So I took a shot at 100NL. WOW VARIANCE.

I was playing super tight, and after a while I got lucky. I flopped a set vs. a donk who couldn't let go of top pair crap kicker, then spiked his kicker on the river. BOOM, 1st buyin. Then nothing happened for a while.

I get AA < KK AI preflop. UGH.

Then SilentNoise joins me in taking a shot, and sits on my direct left on one of my tables. This sick hand takes place. I didn't think he'd lead a set there, since that about ensures most of Button's minreraising range folds. I guess he does anyway. Nice comment: "AA/99, nice hand.", and then he calls???

I get sucked out on another table, KK < AcJx AI on 9c4c3c board. Only half a buyin, so w/e.

Meanwhile, SilentNoise and I are 3-betting and battling a ton. Fun, fun. He raises UTG, I reraise pot from the BB with AQ, he calls. Q22 flop, 2 diamonds, I 2/3 pot, he calls, turn another diamond, I check, he checks behind. I half pot blank river, he folds, claiming TT.

I raise 99 from the SB to take money from the limpers, he reraises pot, and here I [censored] hate that he has position on me, so I fold.

Then a TAG becomes fed up with us. Button is SilentNoise. Maybe I should've called, would've been a sick flop for me.

After having the worst month of my poker career (2 years) i made the grand total of 2 dollars. Month of horrible beats, a bit of bad play and generally shouting loudly at my computer about how i must be the unluckiest player in the world.

I realise all of the above is just poker and varience happens. People have experienced alot worse than me and generally i have been happy with my poker career.

Anyways December is a new start and im up a 100 (2 buyins) already. I don't like posting beats but i thought i would share my thoughts. So to my fellow 2p2ers suffering similar [censored], i say if you keep playing your game and learning it will turn around here is to more hand like these.

Table talk afterwards was priceless, with both villians chastising me (shortie didn't think i should've called his minreraise with a surefire caller behind) and riverluckbox challenging me to headsup. I can't really fault villian for calling (although I would probably toss the idiot end of a straight draw here, I'd instacall with 99) but it sucks all the way because other than the misclick raise preflop I played it well

so december sucks so far, was card dead for most of my sitting and just losing money to a few donkies if i did get a hand preflop, it went south right after that everytime.

finally pulled the stack a donk on a set of 10's, made 50 cents, ran away flailing my arms.

at least im up i guess.

Yeah I hadn't noticed that at the time
I know Brasil pretty well though, we've played a good many ring games together and he probably just took a lucky guess or something, I'll have to ask him (we've exchanged AIMs and such) I'm none too concerned, though I'm not sure he should be even guessing about stuff like that as it potentially impacts the play midhand

so i just couldnt stay away from the tables and sat down again about 45 minutes before i had to leave work. i knew in the back of my mind that this was going to be a mistake, but i did it anyway. i started with some micro limit to "safely" donk it up, after dropping 30 cents, i went to a 5NL table to win it back, promptly lost a buyin to a donked nut flush draw and a terrible terrible suckout(villian calling pot sized bets on every street and hit the river for a hand that i didnt even see coming because it was so off the wall jacked up.)

my very last hand at the table, i get pocket 9's, raise, the suckout donkey reraises me to 30 cents or something stupid, i push my 1.60 left and he instacalls, i get NOTHING on the board that helps me and im sure i lost, he mucks after my hand shows.

he was slightly tilty after that and heckling me, had to go though as it was time to leave work.

ugh for the first losing session in a few weeks.

I usually play 5 tables, yesterday i played 12 and stunk up a storm (broke even, don't even want to review hands or ever attempt that again on my 19" crt monitor).

Accomplished the goal...now platinum at stars. Next stop 60,000 vpp's and my $1000 travel voucher and a summer in Peru and Bolivia.

Thanks for the tip. I also had to download the old .exe file from the PT website. PAHUD works if you go to the table, sit and open the HH window, then turn on PAHUD.

Also, if you don't close the HH window afer 5 or so hands, PT stops importing hands.

It works but WTF?!!??

Thanks again for the tip

Im interested in what you guys think about my bankroll plan. I don't have much but it still needs a plan to be managed so it can grow at the fastest and in the safest way possible.

I have $185 on stars and $105 on UB and I currently only play $2NL. (I thought UB had $5NL but that was a limit table /images/graemlins/frown.gif )

Im going to be moving up when I have 15 buy-ins for the next highest level and dropping back down when I have 20 buy-ins for the previous limit. I found the idea on a post I read.

So with the $290 I have in my roll, I can play $10NL. I will move up to $25NL when I hit $375. If I drop some loot while playing $10NL I will move down when my roll drops to $150 (drop to $5nl).

If my roll hits $375 playing $10NL, I will move up to $25NL until I hit $750. If while at $25NL my roll drops below $375 I will move back to $10NL to rebuild.

I think with the idea of dropping back down I protect myself from going busto. There is no reason to be playing $2NL with a roll of almost $300. I know I have alot to learn and I did pretty good at $2NL but I think its time to get going. My big concern is to not lose my bankroll while allowing me a chance to take a shot at the biggest game Im rolled for.

Thanks for any ideas to help tune up my plan. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Sounds like a good plan. You're allowing yourself the opportunity to move up and accumulate a bankroll. On the flipside your allowing yourself to stumble a bit but being able to regain your game. I suggest trying it out first and see how you do..

I think that aba20 advocated something similar in his well thread, but ....

... if you are new and never played the higher buyins before ect, I'd acvice on going by a at least 25 buyin plan and dropping if you drop 5-10 buyins depending on preferences.

The 15 buyin advice is geared toward people who have beaten the limits and knows how to handle both the players, but even more importantly the tribulations of tilt and variance.

Why the hurry ??

Thanks for the info. I found the aba20 post where he talks about taking a shot. He basically took a shot at 15 BI for the higher level and moved down if he dropped 3 BI at the higher level.

Interesting stuff as he mentions that it took a few shots (10/20) to adjust before the move was permanent.

Im in no hurry but I was at $2nl for too long without taking a shot. Im trying to safely incorporate shot taking I guess.

Thanks again for the feedback.

Well going from 2NL to 10NL is no big deal, lets face it for most people the money is not that big. If money is no problem as I assume it isn't, then just make the jump .... I am not that much of a bankroll nit.

From 10NL to 25NL ... well lots of idiots at 25NL too, but there might be a slight jump in skill, but still and money is also not too big.

Above 25NL is where I would advice caution. I went from sngs a week ago to 25NL and crushed it ... 50NL is a different matter all together, not that I can't beat it, but there is some adjustment to be made. There are a lot of regulars suddenly. We are perhaps not the most highly skilled pokerplayers, but you got people like me and the rest of uNL 4-6tabling. Also the donks are still donks playing any two suited etc, but some of them like to play in raised pots all the time which quickly can take you out of your comfort zone. It took me around 5000 hands to adjust and not feel slightly out of control.

But yeah if you can stand losing 50-100$ then play 10NL by all means and you should experience too much variance allthough everybody can get sickly unlucky

The difference between playing 10nl with a $275 roll, and 25nl with a $375 roll is huge if you ask me. So by all means move up to 10nl, but I would move up when you got $500 to 25nl

I wonder if I'll start playing better today. I took yesterday off, my first day off in a month. I lost a lot of my roll and I have my bills to pay in a week.. this sucks.

But - good luck to me. Gonna start off with some headsup SNGs or something. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

ZOMG move to 10 nl now. Immediately. It won't be a problem for you at all. You can also try .02/.05 nl on stars, although the buyin is still 10.

Just wondering, how many hands have you played?

For higher limits, I'd make a note that bankroll might not increase at the same rate for skill, so you'd need a signifigant sample size to prove that you are a winner. Well not at 10 nl probaly but as you move up.

Been playing NL ring for about 6 weeks. All together 4500 hands. Made $31.89 and pt shows 13.75 BB/100. I guess that would be 27.50 PTBB/100?? Sample is terribly small but at $2NL the players are absolutely the worst no matter what site your at. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just started playing more than one table at once and just bought PAHUD that doesn't really work for me at UB.

Im definately moving up to $10NL.

ChipStorm
12-02-2006, 07:23 PM
check, if PT shows it, that's 13.75 PTBB/100. But very small sample. But you're definitely rolled for 10NL, gogogogogogogo.

PAHud works fine at UB, you just need UltimateHistory to grab the hand histories in real time for PT. See PT website.

Edit: love that Loc

3 out of 10 going in with 447k chips
First is $409.68. 2nd is $245.70, which is a bit more than I won in the other tourney earlier.
Was crippled in this one when I pushed AKo and ran into AA, but push-botted my way back up. Thought I was dead when I had 99 AI on an AJ2 flop, but villain had KTs. Stole a bunch of pots, knocked out a couple shorties, then got into a blind battle with JJ and flopped a set on a QJT board. Hated the 8 turn and K river, but villain had KTs and I won a gigantic pot.

Wish me luck!

And I get the first knock out of the FT after flopping a flush out of the BB! And number 2, when I put AK all-in with 88 then river an out after he hits his Ace and King on flop+turn!

I was on two tables with a freak aggro player, which led to big swings in stacks and a bit of a surplus of cash on the table. That big drop around hand 60 started when the table got shorthanded for a few orbits. I flopped two pair! My opponent flopped a set, weee. Then I stacked off to the aggro guy about two hands later when a turn 10 gave me a straight, but completed his broadway. Cough. Around hand 225 he got his money in with a straight flush draw on the flop which of course hit on the turn. Then set over set and a rivered flush > trips got me back to positive. He finally left around hand 750, which is where my chart starts to lose the extreme spikiness. Fun and exasperating at the same time.

december can lick my balls. i have dropped two buyins today after finally breaking even yesterday from a crapshoot on day 1. all of it has been passive slowplayed sets and other random crap. and i've been card dead, constantly getting suited junk and Arag, Krag, etc. once i hit, i get reraised preflop, then donk bet into on the flop when i miss. if i hit, i bet and they have better position on me, then they take my monies.

poker grapher 1.3.11 is pissing me off too, it graphs incorrectly using the SB as the BB. it says im down 936BB today, i play .01/.02 poker, and just so happened to have lost $9.36 in my hour long crap session. someone fix that crap.

screw poker.

Has anybody ever made a LAG style work at uNL ??

At 25NL i made it work, but those tables are perhaps so soft that anything will work.

At 50NL I feel like I'm getting raped left and right with lot of checkraises etc etc. And my game is drifting toward my old nitty (well not that nitty, my aggression factor has doubled since the old days, but still)

The thing is, when playing a lot of hands I find poker interesting, but when vpip drops down, I find it hard to stay focused and boredom creeps in ... and I find myself just staring into my wall slowly feeling the life get drained out of me. (with tilting in the horizon)

This is why I left cash before ... sngs are robotic, but they are supposed to be that way, and there is always a bubble here and there to spice it up.

So ... anyone pulled it of ... or should I just go major TAG and live with the 'boredom'

Isolation of fish pf is the only thing that makes it fun, right now. (Fish sucking out kinda ruins that, but that is another story and irrelevant /images/graemlins/grin.gif )

12-03-2006, 12:51 PM
I found that I had to move down from 50 NL because I only had the roll to play 2 tables. I got so bored that I played too loose and called too much. I'm playing 6 tables of 10nl or 4 tables of 25nl and it sure makes it easier to stay TAG when you get a lot of hands. I've tried playing 8-9 tables at the penny game just to see if I could. I played super weak tight and felt like a robot.

So I guess try playing more tables until it feels right to play a TAG game. Of course if you're already playing 8 tables you're screwed.

this may or may not be why i sucked so badly today, but today is the first day i 4tabled. i was playing 1, got bored after i figured out what i was doing, opened a second, now i get bored with two, i just recently started running three, that seems to be my sweet spot for now since i was running awesome the last 5 days 3 tabling, did 4 today, drop two buyins over 1.5 hours. maybe just variance though. who knows but it needs to stop.

Not a great day. Started out fairly well this afternoon, then made some truly terrible calls. No clue what I was thinking, but I made them. Swore to myself I would play better tonight, and I did. Unfortunately the cards didn't feel like helping. One set under set. AA < AT AI preflop, AA < KQ on Qxx flop, and lots of tiny pots. I think I played well, so no sweat.

I sometimes wonder whether I should listen to my gut in folding sets, though. The way he played it, I kept thinking... 'JJ, JJ'... but I still can't fold sets. *shrug*

How many straights/flushes do you guys get?
In the last 2600 hands I have 3 flushes and 5 straights for

.11% flushes/hands
.19% straights/hands

By the way, notice my funky bet sizing? BetPot AHK script is awesome.

There's a big thread in the software forum about it.

How dumb is it to always sit down with $8 at the $10 NL tables?

I don't know why I do it but it makes me happy.

Buy-in full, you're limiting your winrate.....

Also, just wanted to let people know my vid is up.

Done and done.

Where the hell is the "collection of the posted videos" thread?
And why can't I find a link to it in the FAQ or the essentials thread?

Also, I have just noticed that I have a winrate of 5 PTBB/100 hands (30k'ish sample) playing 25NL (usually play FL). I then started thinking about my game, so I could justify moving up. Won 13 buy ins over 1000 hands, and then started playing like a clown...
This is the prefect motivation to study, and find out exactly what I'm doing (I honestly have no idea about where my 5PTBB/100 hands comes from).

Its actually my fault for being naive enough to believe the following:

That I can win with an overpair
That I can win with a set
That I can win with a combo draw

Pretty much that I can win. HAEHYYWRYEHSFHDHAASFHDAYHWRYYHAZSFHDASFHDHHHASHDRY AUHSFHJSTFYZGARYJ
