have not been at the table for too long so no real solid reads on villain. i did not raise pre flop because i have been catching cards and raised a few hands in a row, didnt want a lot of callers for me to not hit.

as played you should shove the flop but...

This makes for a classic example of why raising preflop is the way to go. With limping this preflop your allowing T8 to come along for the flop.

You have no idea of your opponents hand at the flop and he could have close to any two cards.

edit: oh - This is FR. Im used to 6max but think my advice is still ok /images/graemlins/cool.gif

raise pf to .50

shove the flop either way.

I used to be a full ring nit, but you have to raise 99 in EP you don't want loads of limpers with overcards in the pot with you!

also raising preflop makes getting the rest of your stack in on the flop a lot easier when you do flop your set!

lots of callers is a good reason to raise preflop, not a bad. Your hand plays very well in a big raised pot (oh I hit a set, go all in!, oh I didn't, fold!). Much better than having Kjo or something

i smooth called his re raise thinking he had a straight. i wanted to see one more card/one more bet by him to see where he was at. turn came 7, i checked the boat and he pushed immediately. it NIiiCE.

So what would you have done if the turn bricked? Fold what is probably the best hand? Called the push with a lot less equity vs an unlikely straight? Plus it is not out of the question that he is still drawing on the flop with some kind of pair + straight draw. What do you do if a 5, 8 or T come off and villain pushes? Smoothcalling the flop sets you up for uncomfortable decisions on the turn unless you fill up which you won´t do the vast majority of the time.

Make the first raise on the flop .55; 1.4 is way overbetting the pot and will fold out worse hands that would have called. Jam it if reraised of course. ;p
