I agree. Only change might be to bet a little more on the flop since there is a flush draw and some straight cards. Maybe $5. Everything else is exactly the same.

Would nobody bet the turn for value? ^^

I bet turn. T8 just got there, but the flush draw is still out there.

Edit: lol. I swear I didn't see Vamma's post.

I was reviewing hands from my last session where I lost the most money and after looking at this hand thought it was a very standard, but well played TP hand. Thought a newb might benefit from seeing a standard hand with pot control. Results really aren't important, but villain had AQ and MHING.

i've been betting more turns here lately in these kinds of spots, you can always check behind the river if you want to keep the pot semi-smallish. you'd be surprised how often you get called again by draws/worse hands or hands that peeled and picked up another draw.

so i think especially with the flush draw out you should fire again on the turn

Betting the turn is only against call stations with middle pair. the 50/20 types.

As for posting this hand, I think its good to review basics.

bet the turn 100% ... his check call on the flop is too often a flush draw.

you say you are checking behind on turn for pot control ... but what are you expecting him to have here? A9? ... lol ... villain is a moron for having aq in this spot. you need to bet the turn to make draws pay... here you are giving a draw and chance to beat you, thats about the worst thing you can do in poker.

with this many draws out there i consider betting the turn...but i am about 50/50 between betting turn and checking to keep pot small.

Ok, ive decided i like checking more.. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

btw, why u lead full pot into 5 way limped pot on an 873 rainbow flop, and fold to a raise? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's more true in limit hold 'em, not so true in no limit. I'm paraphrasing the book of M&S aka NLHTP. Giving a free card is often the correct play in NL whereas in limit it is one of the worst mistakes you can make. With a small hand like top pair, pot control is often more important than giving a free card. It also allows your opponent to bluff when he misses.

I think OP played it good. If I bet turn it's more for river checkdown value than pure $-value.
