This feels like a common spot were I often throw a few chips away. How should I be playing these spots, i.e. TPBK OOP in a 3-way (or 2-way) pot? Check-call? Bet-fold? check-fold??

I would usually just call flop. As played, c/f.

You could still have the best hand. Button could have diamonds, or maybe a Queen. Do you have a read on the button? I don't think I'd fold the turn here. You could bet $3 on the turn (last money put in the pot), or check-raise (also last money put in the pot), or call the $4 and see if he fires again on the river.

I would typically either open-fold the flop or flat call and see what he does on the turn. If he bets again on the turn, I'm out for sure.
