this was literally my 3rd hand at the table so i had no reads on villian. earlier today this happened and the guy had an over pair.

Call a bet on a rag flop as well. If he fires again on a blank turn we can fold easily.

In general I think people are pretty tight on their 3betting range preflop, especially since you are newer at the table. At this point I think you are playing for set value minus AK being in their range. I don't think there is nothing wrong with fold against a pot-sized bet even if the board is ragged. Since you have position you could call a smallish bet on a ragged flop board and c/f after that on the remaining streets.
