Should hero be limping or raising?

As mentioned, full ring, hero has a full stack and its a low limit table with the usual assortment of fish, calling stations, maniacs and maybe a tag or two.

Is the play to raise, hoping that a big pair reraises you and if you hit your set you can hopefully stack a villian?

Limp. If you get raised by Aces that's fine. You pay maybe 5BB to see the flop and have a good shot at a large portion of his stack if you hit.

If you raise 4BB, Aces reraise and you end up paying 12BB to see the flop, you may win his entire stack if you hit, but you are 8:1 to hit and have to win all his stack, everytime you hit to make it worthwhile.

This advice is generally good for 25NL. At higher limits (I'm thinking 200NL+), you are more likely to be raised and people are smarter at getting away from big hands. You should consider folding.
