And punters had another crack at NETeller, 5-3/4 pence better at 142-3/4 amid talk that Dermot Desmond, the Irish financier who is the major shareholder in Celtic Football Club, is now sitting on a near 10 pct stake in the company via contracts for difference. Some traders reckon Desmond is looking to combine NETeller with Betdaq, his betting exchange business.

Betdaq appears to be a private company. Does anyone know, if it is Desmond's intent to "combine" the two companies, is this likely to result in Neteller going private or just buying Betdaq?

The implication of the article is clearly that he might be a buyer of NETELLER, and there had been rumors about this before. Probably a good thing if it happens.

Just confirming your point ... from a BettingMarket article (http://www.bettingmarket.com/refraichir010388.htm) on betting exchanges:

Rumours abound that Desmond is about to purchase the electronic payment provider Neteller, which he will then incorporate into his betting exchange network.

That is interesting material. That would definately be good if Neteller was bought and went private, I won't hold my breath though.
