Captain Obvious to the Rescue!

AFTER MONTHS OF STEADY GROWTH, U.S. ONLINE GAMBLING SHOWS DECLINE IN OCTOBER, ACCORDING TO NIELSEN//NETRATINGS (http://www.nielsen-netratings.com/pr/pr_061114.pdf)
Online Gambling Most Popular among Lower Income Households

Perhaps this should be in the media sticky. Basically this points out the obvious, but with nice numbers. Casino on Net (-72%) and Party Poker (-67%) suffer the most from Sep06-Oct06, while Full Tilt Poker is the greatest beneficiary (42%).

Also, I know no one thought 2+2ers were Robin Hoods, but:

"Online gambling is most popular among households with lower incomes. Those with an annual income between $25,000 and $35,000 are over 25 percent more likely to engage in online gambling than the average Web user. In contrast, those with an annual household income of over $150,000 are 22 percent less likely than the average Web user to gamble online."

actually pretty scary for us players. Players seem to be quitting because of legislation. Not enough are relocating. Small sample size though?

this is nothing - Neilsen is the "benchmark" that ad agencies and advertising mediums use to rate viewers/listeners etc. However, most insiders that have ever dealt with these ratings will immediately call them flawed due to methodolgy of sampling, small samples sizes, and rather large assumptions based on those sample sizes. Neilsen is currently getting nailed for its measurement of cable and DVR usage, for flawed methodology.

They are trying to keep their relevance, and they have none

I'm sure a lot are quitting because they think it is illegal, and others are unsure they will be able to get their money out.

Others simply think because their site shut down they cannot play. I ran across a thread on Craigslist Communities/U.S. Politics posted by someone who was frustrated because they couldn't play online anymore. I tried to post to let them know they could, but must have some of my setting wrong and couldn't.
