This is read dependant, of course, but I've used this 'You called my cbet but I can't quite fold the turn against you with my Jacks' line successfully against villians who will fold to continued aggression but bluff at anything else.

You have to lead the turn. Dont let him take control of the hand. 5s isnt a scare card

Looks OK bud. Maybe stack-a-donk? c/r the turn ai if you think you are good in case he is drawing to something.

I've been finding so many folds lately against my raises that I'm not sure if a c/r was going to be called by a weaker hand. But it's an option, sure.

You might not want, or even expect, a, call here: given the history, the Shania of a turn C/R is very valuable. He won't give you such a hard time if you do this once (sometimes twice).

I'd prefer to take down a maniac with a better hand than TPGK.

Yep. That was the point of my post. To see how much are you willing to risk when a maniac fires.

The reward when you catch him are sweet but if the maniac hits the variance can be ugly.

I would have played it the same way

I like. Given your read, his turn bet looks like a float. The river overbet screams "bluff." Maniacs, in my donkified experience, make callable bets when they have a monster. He looks to be trying to push you off of top pair.

Nice hand.
