I looked for this elsewhere, but could find nothing so apologies if this is already being discussed somewhere.

I just saw that Daryn is the massive chip leader after Day 1 of the WPF with a stack of about 340K.

gogogogogogogo Daryn

Also, a buddy of mine is sitting on just under 100K at the start of Day 2. Dan Sevigny, keep an eye out for him. Go Dan.

Please point me to the post talking about Daryn if there is one. Thanks.

From some blog:

"
We started the day with a massive 609 players here at the equally massive Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Now, after fifteen hours of play, there are 168 sleepy players left in contention. They’re retiring to their beds in preparation for another long day tomorrow.

Daryn Fricano is our runaway chip leader. The unknown American had an amazing T340,000 chips at the end of play, more than T100,000 more than Michael Omelchuk. Amongst the big names in the mix are Hoyt Corkins at T175,000 and Carlos Mortensen at 145,000. Kathy Liebert, Tuan Le, Jeff Madsen and John Cernuto are in the sixth digit also.

While he’s not the chip leader, Erik Cajelais made the play of the tournament. After missing his flush draw, Cajelais moved all-in on the river. His opponent finally folded after time in the tank, and Cajelais showed his eight-high for the assembled crowd to see. It was a remarkable play, and for anyone who didn’t interview Amarillo Slim, the highlight of the day.

We’re starting up at 12:00 PM, at which point I’ll get into the revelations of my conversation with Slim. Be sure to check back early and often as we play another thirteen hours. "

Keep it up Daryn. I see you sending a lot of players on their way today with that stack.

How do you get 340K after Day 1? Were the starting stacks 50K? Jeez.

Daryn Firicano wins MONSTER pot!
Monday, November 13, 2006 10:57 AM PST
It's sure nice when you're the chip leader and the guy to your left moves all-in on you and you're holding pocket Kings!

Daryn Firicano, who came into the day as the chip leader, raises pre-flop in middle position. The player to his left re-raises all-in for over T200,000. Instantly, Daryn calls.

Daryn turns over KK
Opponent turns over QQ

Wow! The boar....

Expanding Your Chip Lead In Two Easy Steps

1. Pick up a big pair, such as K-K.

2. Make sure another big stack at your table gets a slightly-less-big pair, such as Q-Q, and get him all-in against you.

Daryn Firicano just followed these easy steps and he's now up over 600K.* Isn't it time you joined our program and incrased your chip lead?

* - Results atypical. No warranty implied. You may need to drive to the tournament site with your friend Alex Jacob and steal some of his luck to repeat this result.

I know Frank D who's in 9th last I checked, I've played with both him and Daryn out in "Woostah" at KilgoreTrout's home game.

I'll be rooting for both of them to final table this sucker (Frank has promised to not stake me for the 75/150 O8 games, but instead use his winnings to place massive bounties on me at Kilgores tournaments instead) /images/graemlins/grin.gif

You'll freaking love it. KingJackOff

He has a very LAG style in tournaments, and I was speaking with Toro about this and how we both feel he's well suited to going deep in that type of structure.

I'm better suited to cash games, I've never cashed in one of Kilgores 2+2 tournies. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

d: Awesome, keep it up.

All: "Jeff Madsen pushes all in from late position for his remaining $63,400. Hoyt Corkins, immediately to his left, asks for a chip count, then calls. Madsen takes the lead with the AclubKdiamond to Corkin's AdiamondQspade. Corkins pairs his queen on the Qheart7spade5heart4club4spade, and Madsen is eliminated from the 2006 World Poker Finals." So sick and wrong to see the second-best player in the world go down like that.

he was at my first table yesterday and played pretty badly early on, then hit the boom switch and started playing extremely well.

he even got crippled by shulman, i forget the stack sizes exactly

mike baker opened from mp for 2400 maybe, clonie coldcalled, shulman shoved for 25ish, cajeleis overshoved for 30something

shulman AKdd, vs cajeleis AK SS

SSD flop
D turn
D river.

soooo gross

dropped him to 8k, he played the short stack like a monster and sooo quickly rebounded to mid 50s- it was nice to watch and none of it was from me /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Holy sh*t. Sorry about that horrible beat (sincerely) on the last hand before the break. That was my man Dan Sevigny that you were in the hand with. He's been calling me during the breaks.

In the end it was a horrible beat, but he had his reasons. I'd tell you now, but he's sitting next to KingJackOff tomorrow. Part of the story was he asked you if you wanted to race and you froze, so I don't get where the 'talked him into it' comes in, unless you mean 'talked him into it' figuratively, which could very well be the case.

Best of luck KingJackOff, Daryn and my man Dan Sevigny. Take it down.

Watch out, KingJackOff. Dan's for real. He's a really, really cool guy too, so you guys can hopefully have some fun tomorrow.

I will, of course, have to tell him who you are in advance. I'm sure you understand.

I'm not Daryn, but I'll give some impressions of some well known pro's.

Men seemed to be a class act and was extremely nice when I played with him.

I played with Hoyt Corkins at the Main Event and then here too and he actually asked me how things have been since the main event, even though we probably only played together at the ME for like 3 hours before he busted. He is a really nice guy.

Isabelle Mercier could be the biggest flirt ever. Maybe I am just that hot (well, that's likely the case), but she really tries to butter up everyone at the table.

Negreneau is actually pretty entertaining at the table and makes the time go by a little faster (I lost my ipod pre-event). However, he can get really annoying, like when he started complaining non-stop, to everyone in the room how bad the tournament structure was (i agree with him), but enough was enough. Either he should of complained before the tournament or should complain afterwards, but during was just getting annoying.

Kathy Liebert seemed really image conscious as she kept asking the photographers to take pictures of her and kept talking about how she needs more "sound bites" and stuff like that. With that said, she too is very nice.

In my opinion, Libert was the best "known pro" I played with. It seemed Negreneau is running bad as he was playing obscenely passively, and in my opinion, not well.

I only was at Daryn's table for today which wasn't too long. My avoidance of him during my tourney run is probably why I lasted so long.

Oh man, I was just talking to Dan and he told me the sickest story.
The dealer flips over a 9 at Mimi's spot while dealing and she is a little pissed about it. Her replacement card ends up giver her the AA vs. Daryn.

Yuck, but is there a chance she calls A9 and takes it down anyways?

I'm not Daryn, but I'll give some impressions of some well known pro's.

Your definition of pleasurable, and my definition of "pleasurable" are very different. I really don't care if they are nice, who is the donator?

I can't see everyone's cards, so this is just my opinion:

Joe Bartholdi sucks and he said he hasn't made a cash since the Bellagio tourney. He also fell asleep at the table at one point, so maybe this effected his play. He should have pretty much doubled me up very early in the tourney, but wound up runner-runner'ing a chopped pot.

Men made some really questionable plays.

As I said before, I don't think Negrenaeau played well at all and he blatantly talked me out of making a move on him when he had jacks. He also made a really solid call with ace high that shipped me a nice 70kish pot on day 2.

I didn't play enough with Bellande to figure out if he sucks or if his play is just insanely wacky. I'm actually partly leaning towards the latter, but I could be pretty wrong on this.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has been wishing me well. I also want to say congrats to Dan, Daryn, and Adam. While I'm not sure if I even played with Adam, Dan and Daryn were an absolute pleasure to play against, and if wasn't me, I was hoping for one of them. So, again, Thanks 2+2ers.

He's the one who cut my stack in half. I put him all in for his last T450,000 with my AQ vs his A10 and he flopped a set of 10's. The turn brought me a little hope with a Q, but a blank on the river, and he doubled, and I halved. A lilltle while later, I mad my final stand with 99, but ran into 1010. Congrats to your friend. He made a nice run.

did he play well during the tourney? when i read that hand on cardplayer about him calling allin with AT it seemed really fishy. do you think his call was reasonable?

It was nice to root on Daryn, Frank, and Dan at the end there. I don't recall who Adam was, but I'd know him if I saw him.

This Just in, Michael Omelchuk's hotel room smells of the reefer. (**unconfirmed rumor only**)

Frank is a pretty aggressive player from what I recall. Your friend may have thought that Frank was making a positional steal re-raise, although even if that's the case, the pot-odds from what I can see dictate Frank calls the majority of the time:

Farhad Sinaei raises from middle position to $70,000 and Frank Dennehy reraises to $210,000.

Sinaei moves all in for a total of $421,000 and Dennehy makes the call.

Sinaei turns over A10 but Dennehy shows AQ. However, the board comes 10106Q7 and Sinaei makes trip tens to win the pot and double up.

kathy l. was pretty solid play-wise and very nice to have at the table social-wise. i don't really have any comments to make on any of the other "known pros" i played with throughout the tournament... other than i busted TJ out!

Congrats Daryn, I thought both you and Frank had great shots to make the final table. I had even cleared my schedule for Thursday to root both of you on.

I wish you both the best in future events.

Daryn,

Dan mentioned to me that Mimi Tran was very fun and talkative at the table, contrary to her tv image of quiet and stonefaced. I found this surprising.

He also told me the guy who mucked KQ with you never got over it and will be picked apart at the tv table.

Also mentioned Loi Phan was in his opinion the best player at the final two tables. He played with him for a good part of day 2 as well and said he was just above and beyond everyone around him. I guess he's an everyday high stakes player at the Commerce.

ive played with mimi several times and sometimes she can be stonefaced and very quiet and other times she can be very talkative and fun. i find her to be quite funny the way i find all asians with a big accident to be (in a good way). i hope mimi wins, but if she doesnt im rooting for liebert. be about time a woman wins the wpt.

Very interesting final table. Short. Nenad Medic, who took third in last year's Aussie Millions, took it down. He came in to heads up slightly ahead of church man E.G. Harvin and picked him to pieces. The last hand (http://www.tropicalpokerblog.com/2006/11/5d-5c-3d-is-next-flop.html) was pretty emblematic of the whole heads-up play.
