View Full Version : NL50 6Max - Frustrated Villain's Massive Overbet

Villain had some ridiculous stats like 9/5/1 over 100+ hands, and I kept picking on him, either reraising him or getting into pots with him. Then these three hands happened in short order. The push in the blinds (with an instantaneous click after my raise) seemed to me to be his making a statement, and could be any two (or could be small pocket pair or ace high). Would you call here with this read?

Where is the question, a 9/5/1 player effectively L/R all-in with a hughe overbet. I fold. The other hands were just noise.

In hand two, would he routinely fold after raising? With a 1% PFR, isn't he likely raising only AA or KK UTG?

Edit: Did some poker stove BTW, if it is truly any two, he KTs is 3:2 favorite. If it is Any suited, Any Pair, Any Broadway, and Any Ace it is basically a coin flip so your long run EV edge is very small compared to the variance losing your stack on a coin flip can do.

I'd fold. I think he finally got something. Since his stats are so tight, I think he has been running cold deck, and finally got something. He thinks you are somesorta crazy maniac, and decides to raise his kings or aces all the way figuring you're crazy enough to call him with crap. Could just aswell be any two, or smaller pair, but for some reason I think that hes got something big. You aren't that committed, so the risk isn't worth it IMO.

The hands leading up weren't noise, of course they weren't any big deal. But when they happened in short order I could tell he was getting frustrated. He ended up turning over A7o and my read was right, and he admitted after the hand I was getting under his skin. I tried to get him to admit he would have done that play with any two, and he said "we'll never know".

I dunno, it's obviously not by the books to call here, but I think sometimes you have to play a little outside the box just to challenge yourself and test your reads.

Hand 1: I 3-bet this flop alot, make it $13 and bet most turns. I suppose that calling might be better given his nitty stats, though I don't really know.

hand 2: looks okay, but take extreme caution if called given this type of opponent.

hand 3: I don't see how you can even consider this a question. fold.

Hand 1 - Bet3bAI on the flop, you have a Kajillion outs and plenty of fold equity.

Hand 2: Standard

Hand 3: Turbo muck, This is a fold even to a normal sized raise. Especially to a nit like this.

1. Ya, I should have 3bet the flop here.

2. I have to fold to a reraise, and am probably playing for a set if called. But with stats like his, he's easier to push off of non super-premium hands.

3. I had just read gigabet's excellent thread about trusting your reads before this session, and may have overplayed my read. But I was convinced I was in at worst a coinflip situation, and that turned out to be the case so I'm happy with the call.

Even if he's tilting, the hands he plays are beating KTs.

i think tha key to tha third hand is AT BEST WE ARE A COIN FLIP. that makes me say fold it. sometimes u gotta use ur brain instead of ur read. there are better times to use ur reads than in this spot imo
