Interesting river question:

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP3 with 4/images/graemlins/spade.gif 4/images/graemlins/heart.gif
UTG raises to $0.5, 3 folds, Hero calls, 4 folds.

Flop: 8/images/graemlins/club.gif J/images/graemlins/heart.gif 3/images/graemlins/club.gif ($1.35, 2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks.

Turn: 4/images/graemlins/club.gif ($1.35, 2 players)
UTG bets $0.5, Hero calls.

River: K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif ($2.35, 2 players)
UTG bets $2.35, Hero raises to $5, UTG raises to $12.35

Question - Did you smooth call the turn because you were scared of the flush? If so, why raise the river?

just calling on the turn to see if the board pairs on the river is good ... but when the board doesnt pair on the river, you need to just call here also.

i hate the river raise. it accomplishes nothing. a flush is not folding and you are scaring 2 pair hands away.

I smooth called not because I was scared of the flush, but because I didn't believe guy had the flush. As others said, I probably should've raised (then fold to a big reraise) or just called to see if board paired and call a moderate bet on river.
