I hate to take pocket pairs all the way to showdown. Somehow, I always end up in situations like these.

I would bet sth on the turn then hope for a check check showdown, if he betts big on river I would fold... But the river kind of screws up the hope of a cheap showdown since he is likely to value bet with any ace on the river. So I would fold here.

As soon as you get a caller on the flop, you have to think about what a villain could have. I think an Ace is definitely in his range.
When the second and third 9's come on the turn and river, you can be pretty sure you're beat. If villain would have made a small bet you could call it, but I think you're gonna have to fold this one...

Against 2 players calling my PF raise and one of them calling my CB with an A on the flop, I'm done with this hand.

Check flop.

Fold as played.

I can't help but feel check/folding on the flop is really weak here.

Fold river though

I didn't say check-fold. We're in position. Check behind, call a modest turn bet, reevaluate river.

this is correct. cbetting 3 handed with an A on the board is losing money all day. check behind and then play on the turn. it will maximize value from lower pps and limit losses to Ax hands
