This is standard right as i even beat 98 now with a bigger 2 pair, but even if the board doesnt pair its still a call right. Nobody bets the turn for value here do they?

You don't beat 98 but I think you see Ax enough to call profitably.

I'd bet half pot on the turn personally. If he raises you there's no way you're good. If he calls then he'll check the river to you a lot of the time. Playing it this way gets you to showdown for the price you set, not what he decides to fire at you on the river.

Not a good idea. There are a lot of hands that beat us and we are happy to get to showdown. If we raise we will get reraised and called by hands that beat us much more than hands that we do beat

You will probably see AK from villain alot here in full ring people love to play it passively. You kept the pot small so nice hand.

I thought the line where we bet the turn (folding to a raise) and check the river showdown was pretty interesting.

I think there are players that wont call a double barrell but will bluff the river and surely this would mean the turn check is more EV over time?

I don't like this beacause if has a flush he's either check raising turn or betting river and we're not going to get a cheap showndown.

looks like a flush to me when he checks the turn
