Well if we would go with your reads, he doesn't have a 4. He could have a pocket pair or a ten though....
I would have raised him at the turn to see where we are at.

The only reason I can think of would be to spike an 8 and stack villain's big pair. But I bet flop too. I wouldn't mind getting this over with quickly; apart from an 8, future cards are more likely to hurt than help you. Otherwise looks fine.

I'd pot the flop. As played I don't mind the call on river.
