I know there are 10-15 states that have banned online gambling but I can't find ouch which ones they are. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Banned? not a single person has been prosecuted in any of these states and people continue to play online as well.

The above site does not list Michigan as a state that expresses internet prohibition. Michigan does have a misdemeanor for all gambling, though. Is internet gambling specifically called out in Michigan? I have heard contradictory information on this.

On that same website if you look closely at the specific laws mentioning gambling in Michigan, it mentions "game of skill or chance". Maybe that is why certain poker sites block Michigan. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

IF this (http://archive.legislature.mi.gov/mileg.aspx?page=BillStatus&objectname=1999-SB-0562&queryid=9017436) is still law, internet gambling providers are expressly prohibited in Michigan IMHO.

This list is wrong. It is not a crime under NY State law to play poker.

NJ law (http://www.state.nj.us/lps/ge/internet_gambling/law.htm)

There is no place where it says that playing is illegal. In the "Risks" link they talk about the potential for sites to hijack your money, and fraud risks, but nothing about arrest risk.

Are you sure about NY law? Why do prima sites block NY residences?

I am sure. I researched the question very thoroughly. I don't know why prima does what it does.

The NJ link clearly says that an online gambling site is illegal, which seems more relevant to the 'banned' discussion than the status of the online gambler.
