hi all,

for those of you curious, and not wanting to wait on the national media to report it, i live in montana and follow politics very closely.

just want to report that jon tester has defeated conrad burns here. which makes the senate democrat 51 to 49.

i know that national media are saying its too close to call, but you can take this one to the bank.

its fun to play the spoiler!

Are you a close follower of Virginia politics also? I don't think that one's decided yet.

If you are correct about Montana, it's still possible for a 50-50 split in the Senate.

virginia with a 7000+ edge for webb.

pretty certain this one will be too much for allen to overcome.

will be a while before the process is completely played out, but webb should pretty comfortably hold.

also from Montana. Unless Burns pulls some shady crap he is known for, Tester is a lock.

I hope you are right, but supposedly, they still have to count absentee ballots, which I assume would favor republican.

How many absentee ballots can Montana have? They only have 902k people. Even 50k absentee ballots would haved to swing very strongly to the republican to pick up 6k net. You think most of the troops are going to vote republican?

correct suzzer.

there were approximately 8k absentee ballots left in yellowstone county, but these have been tabulated already.

only thing left for yellowstone county now is about 300 provisional and irregular ballots scheduled to be counted at around 1:30 p.m. local.

and supposedly there were about 20k absentee ballots, etc,. left in the rest of the state.

and as of this posting, looks like probably half of those have been counted, and tester's lead has gone from 1700 to 3200.

as i originally posted, this one is over and will hold.

p.s. and yes, im aware that virginia is still "in play." (about as much as florida was in play in 2000.)

Cool.

I just wish there was some way to get back at Frisk. Since he is leaving the Senate voluntarily, I still feel unsatisfied that he will suffer no retribution.

There's 2008 to get your retribution against Frist.
