I have no real read on the villian except that I generally find most players at this level to be pretty loose passive and or weak tight and the small bet from the button to try and take down this pot seems pretty common, but I think I have a tendency to try this too often and am wondering if it's a leak. Does this move look -EV? Would it have been better to c/f the turn?

I wouldn't check raise that flop hoping for a fold. Guys at 10NL almost never believe the check raise.

He's never folding the turn since he's only got a pot sized bet back. Lead the flop, check fold turn. Remember, with paired boards you could be drawing dead.
