The pot wasn't big so I'm not on tilt after this but I was wondering if there's any way anybody calls the bet on the end. Villain is unknown. Looking at it I should have made it $1.75 - $2.00 on the flop.

Bet $2.50 on the flop, your $1.50 bet screams weakness. I hate to say it but this basically made villain correctly bluff you out on the river.

As played, a fold is fine on a paired flushy board and you have underpair.

ya, he decided at random to float(or does it not count as a float if hes oop?) you. make a note of it and move on, cause it happens.

usually i would also recommend a larger continuation bet on flop, like 3/4 pot is standard for me.

On a dry missed board, I'll just bet half. My cbet goes up as I need to protect against draws more.

Your fold on the river was correct given how you played the turn. I'd check it there also, and fold the river. You're not beating most hands here that bet. Take a note and I'm sure you'll be stacking this guy soon enough. The few $$$ you lost on this hand might be worth the info he just gave you.

He took more money off of me when my JJ couldn't hold verses his Q8 on a 567 board. But then I stacked his short stack when his Q8 hit TP but was no good against my KK.

I probably don't remember to do this while play, but you might want to lead that river for a small value looking bet. That way he's less likely to think he can bluff.

Problem is you have to be worried about an 8 calling you down too. Tough spot. I probably play it the same and hate the result.
