'Color of the Cross' depicts Jesus as black.
Why is Jesus usually shown as European white?
Shouldn't Jesus be Middle Eastern?

IIRC, his native language was Aramaic. So he probably didn't look like a Celt, no.

Because it's easier for the predominantly white Catholics to identify with a white Jesus. You're right, he definitely wasn't white-European /images/graemlins/smile.gif. Also, most of the painters and artists creating images of Jesus were probably white as well, and this was the image they had in their mind because of their culture. Since those are the images we see, that's what we view Jesus as.

It injects a bit of humor when you see a Christian who is racist against people of Middle Eastern decent, doesn't it? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

A. Gus Hansen
B. Josh Arieh
C. Paul Darden

Who does Jesus resemble most?
I think it's (B) Josh Arieh.

Not bad, jog.

Heh. I consider this the Age of Irrationality for a reason.

Interestingly enough, I'm reading Anne Rice's Christ the Lord, which is pretty much a year in the life of the child Jesus. Sure, she's a great fiction writer, and as such her works should be judged by that metric, but you know, she researches her subject matters well.

I'm no closer to understanding females than I was a year ago. /rant

They need to work on his eyes some. Ain't a flicker of intelligence in 'em.

But as the end of the article said, it may not be 100% accurate, but that's as close as we'll get. Nice find.

Edit: No, not these eyes either. Heh.
